Ok, so I have someone that wants to sponsor my husband & I during rodeo season. My question is, how do you figure a dollar amount to give them? This is totally new to me, so any help would be appreciated.

It all depends on what you will be providing to them.  At what level are you and your husband performing?

I would add up all your entry fees, equipment, fuel, total costs to go to the rodeos and give them that number. If they want to give you 100% great! If not, every little bit helps.

We go to amateur rodeos now, but would like to hit some pro rodeos. It will be advertising his business with patches on shirts, and whatever else we can think of. Plus I help his daughter & will be hauling her to jackpots. He wants us to come up with something, I just don't have a clue. Is it figured on a percentage or just a dollar amount thrown out there.

Let him pay some entry fees or put $$ towards deisel.  You could give him an amount it normally costs to enter/fuel cost and just tell him any % sponsorship towards that would be appreciated. I say fees and or diesel because he doesnt offer a product or service that he could provide you with otherwise right?

Is he offering cash? Lots of sponsors around here just offer products or services, too. Then you get a cash bonus for any rodeos won/extra bonus if you make/win your finals.
