I think it's sad that you don't really care what's going on around the world. Did you see those children and babies gasping for air? |

Yes, they've been using chemical weapons against their own people for a few days now. We didn't launch an air strike though, the Navy launched Cruise missiles at the air field that these chemical weapons are believed to have originated from. It's my understanding that the main reason we are now involved is because Syria has violated a treaty against chemical warfare set in place by the UN. They've been at war with themselves for 6 years or more now. |

Thanks for setting me straight; C said something about the air field they used and I just assumed it was an air strike. I haven't gone online to watch the video because I can just imagine what it's like. While we may have our many problems, I thank God we live in this great country. . . . |

CNN report (trying to pin Trump down): "Mr Preident, did Assad cross a red line?"
Trump : "They crossed lots of lines"
CNN reporter: "What are you prepared to do, Mr President?"
Trump: "I'm not going to tell you......lots of options. I like being unpredictable". |

| I think it was a very carefully thought out plan and well executed. Minimal if any loss of life too. On to the next airfield as far as I'm concerned. Assad needs to be hobbled enough so that the opposition can gain some ground. Unfortunately Isis is also a factor here.

If you'll notice beside every post there is a horse icon. This icon indicates whether the topic is horse related or not. The Original poster has the option to choose HOrse related topic or non horse related topic. This can help you decipher which threads you would like to read if all you would like to read are horse related topics. Sometimes people forget to mark a non horse topic so sometimes there are horse icons next to non horse related topics. Avoiding a non horse topic is as easy as reading the title. With that being said, many people here are very knowledgeable on our goverment and what is going on in today's world. Many here have opinions just like you. Whether or not they coincide with your own opinions is not the issue. We have good, well thought out, informative debates here on BHW about what is going on in today's society. Throwing names and putting yourself above another person because of their beliefs is not only immature but it doesn't give you and the person you disagree with a good start for a debate. If you want to debate, lay out FACTS and DISCUSS with the person you disagree with. Calling names and will only get you a target on your back. Good luck on the forums. |

I understand that. I don't think most people have an issue with syrians coming here that are the ones being killed. Most of us are worried about the sneaky ISIS ones who are trying to blend in with these people to get here , then do harm to Americans and our country. We just need a better way to vet those coming in to separate the two, and of course, if we take ANYONE IN from ANYWHERE, they need to live by OUR RULES, OUR CULTURE, and OUR CUSTOMS, and don't get butt hurt and offended if we do something here that you don't do in your own country. |

Germany took in a million refugees mostly Syrian, and are now paying dearly. Muslim men have little or no respect for women and those men you see devastated over the babies and small girls affected by the sarin gas will stand by idly as they're later subjected to female genital mutilation and forced to wear a curtain over their head and shoulders for their whole lives.
Help them Yes, bring them here No.

You're right. We closed our borders to protect ourselves and now we are helping them in their own country to protect our women children and men from attacks that Germany is facing now.
So yes, you are absolutely correct, we did close our borders to them and we are in fact helping them. |

| I am glad we have a president that stands for this country. I am glad we will now be the great nation we once were. I feel for the innocent people that are paying the price. I think that leader over there needs to be hung. I think the Russians are crazy for defending them. All of this being said, I write this in tears. My boyfriend who has only been deployed for a month is over there. He is stationed just hours from the air base that was attacked. If they wanted to retaliate.... I am terrified. He gets in a plane and flies over that country regularly (now much more often). If we could please pray for the men and women involved. This could go so many ways. |

^^^ Exactly..... Using sarin gas and chemical war by Al-Assad is not a "new" thing....he has been gassing their people since 2012 AND Trump ranted on for months how Obama should NOT get involved or bomb Syria. That it would be a terrible mistake. Of course, that was when he was sucking up to Russia. Then he campaigned on keeping our noses out of their business and taking care of our own....Unfortunately, most can't see beyond the "hoopla" about how ballsy he is....BUT, he has managed to put our "boots on the ground" men and women there IN Syria in grave danger. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | I'll tell you one thing. I'd hate to be sitting across the table from Trump at a high stakes poker game. It would be very hard to look at his face and his outward mannerisms and get an idea about what's really going on between his ears. Trump has said that he doesn't want to say what he's going to do when it comes to our enemies, and he wants them to know he's unpredictable. What he did the other day served a bigger purpose than simply retribution for Assad's use of sarin gas to exterminate innocent men, women, and children. He reminded the world what can happen if you poke a sleeping tiger one too many times. He put the world on notice that there's a new sheriff in town, and this sheriff isn't afraid to bite back when provoked, unlike his predecessor. He basically picked up the phone and told Russia they had an hour to get the hell out of town, because hell is about to rain down on them. That phone call sent the Russians scattering. I hope and I believe that Trump wants to give his best shot at settling things down in the Middle East. He himself has said it's a huge mess and he would like to be involved in a lasting peace agreement and finally bring Israel and the Palestinians to the negotiating table. He said it's nearly impossible, but he wants to give it a shot. What have we been witnessing these last few weeks? The Saudis, Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Egypt, and Jordan have all been singing his praises and they already are showing our president some respect. What he did sent a message to the world, and it just goes to show that the adage "peace through strength" is not without merit.
Don't kid yourselves.....Putin received a message loud and clear, and so did the president of China. While they were sitting at the dinner table, Trump gave the go ahead to turn that Syrian airbase into a parking lot with the flip of a switch. We've been poked and pushed around for too long. Trump sees the colossal mess in the Middle East and he knows that we have to be involved somehow, if it's ever going to be resolved. He wants to force those countries to step up and take charge of their own part of the world. We aren't going to squander trillions only to see things continue. That $59 million spanking just might turn out to be a very smart expenditure. Just like we had to fight for our own freedom and liberty some 240 years ago, they are ultimately going to have to do the same if they are ever going to make it out of that perpetual hell in which they live.
Basically, Trump just let a huge fart in the Middle East......and the world took notice. |

If we can make their country safe then they have no reason to be refugees. I just watched an interview this morning with a man from Syria who survived a chemical attack in 2013. The CNN host asked about the travel ban and what he thought about the air strikes and he said this is what the country needs. He said syrians want to stay in their country that they do not want to be refugees, they just need help to make it a safe place. He was praising trump for his help. Let's just say the CNN host didn't look to please because not exactly what she wanted to hear.
There is compassion for these people in the hearts of all Americans but there are different ways to help other than taking them all in as refugees. |

Just a reminder, these Syrian people are the ones we are trying to keep out. Just sayin.....
The odds of us "making Syria safe" are slim to none. The whole middle east is volatile. Look at how well making Iraq and Afghanistan "safer" has gone. It hasn't. The people of these countries have no desire to change and as previously stated, if Assad is removed from presidency, someone just as bad if not worse will take his place. Don't get me wrong, as a service member myself I will always support what the President is doing but just don't get your hopes up of anything changing. |
