What are some tips and tricks you do with your horses when you've been running them throughout winter in small covered arenas to large outdoor pens?

I would make a run and see how it goes first. For the most part unless someone is standing by a barrel and goes crazy when I head to it and the alley and barrels are set up evenly I dont change anything. My horse still needs a certain pocket and rate point for her stride regardless.

Nothing, I just go for it

If she feels like a runaway going to the first I sit a stride or two sooner than usual but once we get past the first she's ratey at her 2nd and 3rd even if it's her first run outside.

Some horses need a stronger bit, some horses actually need to be opened up because they are anticipating having to turn even though the barrel is now further away than they're accustomed on the short pattern. That's how my old horse was. He would start sitting where he thought the barrel SHOULD have been even though it was clearly several more feet in front of him haha.
