| It's really hard for me to judge body condition on quarter horses. They all look like brick outhouses that need grazing muzzles to me.

Sorry for the imgur links. I still can't figure out how to post photos.

Location: Gainesville, TX | What are you using her for? She doesn't seem overly fat to me though she seems a bit unfit. Fitness might tighten up her belly a bit. She looks reasonably healthy.
Most horses shouldn't look like racehorses every day. And quarter horses are not thoroughbreds. I'd rather have one slightly beefy.
She doesn't have huge warning signs like a really cresty neck or lots of fat over her tailhead or anything that I can see.
This horse is genuinely too fat: https://goo.gl/images/C8K7Q1

Right now, I'm just getting her broke, although I'd like to run barrels eventually. She's been sitting in a pasture for 3 years, and I pulled her up about 2 months ago to go for a little trail ride and realized she was tying up. Talked to the vet, started her on the pssm diet, had her seen by the chiro, and have very slowly brought her back into work. We are up to 30 minutes of trotting at a time, so it's progress.
She rides like a very green horse, although I'm not sure if it's actual green or just lack of strength. Either way, wet saddle blankets will fix it.

I have a horse with EMS, not PSSM per se, but a condition where you have to watch the diet very carefully like PSSM, exercise is generally recommended, and you definitely don't want them getting too fat. Mine is a bit leaner than yours for sure but not significantly so. We feed her maybe two pounds a day of Purina Well Solve Low Carb and 22 pounds of coastal hay. She is turned out for a few hours in the afternoon with a grazing muzzle and exercised with riding or ponying generally half an hour every day.

| We actually ride quite a bit. Most days, it's 45 minutes in the morning, and 45 minutes in the evening, although it's a lot of walking, so we aren't just going out and galloping around all day. She's thriving under the workload. When she had 4 days off after the chiro adjustment, it was like riding a totally different, mostly lame horse until we stepped it up again, even though she lives in a 20 acre pasture with friends. | |

Location: Gainesville, TX | Walking will not give her the fit look you want; galloping and some long trotting will especially if you can collect her some. If she is also out on pasture she can get a grass/hay belly which can make them look fatter than they really are.
