I am having trouble getting my horse to eat her Ultium. She has always gobbled it up but I started giving her Redmond daily gold supplement and she quit eating her Ulitum. I have since quit the daily gold but she wont touch her grain. Is there anything to put on it that will entice her to start eating it again? I really like Ultium and would like to keep feeding it.

Are you sure the feed is fresh and not gone bad? Are that you could have gotton a bad bag?

My thoughts exactly. When a horse stops eating , it's for a reason. Might be the feed or health issue. Best thing to do is offer them a hand ful or so of another feed and see if she eats it. That would rule out a health issue in the horse. If you google " horse stopped eating ultium" it's a pretty common issue at about the year mark after feeding it. Lots of posts on the internet about them going off of it. When I fed it mine gobbled it up. But I never fed it for more than a few months just to get weight on a horse.
Yes feed is fresh I have bought it and 3 different times and the other horses eat it. the expiration date is far away. I also have tried feeding her other stuff and she eats it fine.

Ok. Sounds like you have your answer. There is only a manufacturing date on the bag usually. Never have seen an expiration date. I won't feed anything over 60 days old and 90 in an emergency. But since other horses are eating it just not her I bet she just doesn't like it anymore. Like I said above it's pretty common. Most think it's the high fat content. Might try triple crown senior or complete if you have access. Similar fat profile and have never had one go off it
she said she was feeding a supplement recently in it.. horse didnt like that so wont touch it .. might take a few days to get her to trust you again.lol
