Can someone give me a quick (or not so quick) run down of the different sanctioning bodies involved in professional and semi-professional barrel racing? We have a couple local round up clubs around here, but I feel like after I've gone to a couple play days for exposure I might enjoy some more competitive events, and to my understanding most sanctioned rodeos require you to be a member. But I could be wrong, and don't mind being corrected either.

There is an Open race at Okmulgee behind the Travel Plaza on Wednesdays.
SBRA - Sooner Barrel Racing Association OCA - Oklahoma Cowgirls Association BBR - Better Barrel Races NBHA 02 - Barrel Bashes Tri-K - OKC Area
There are also Rodeo Associations: ACRA - American Cowboys Rodeo Association CRRA - Cowboys REgional Rodeo Assocation IPRA - International Professional Rodeo Association These Rodeo Associations do not require memebership, but you do have to call in and you will be charged a $10 non-member fee. If you plan on going a lot it is cheaper just to buy the membership.

Get on FB and search Oklahoma Barrel Racers. They always post a ton of races. Lots and lots of rodeos getting ready to go too. IPRA and a jillion little open rodeos.
