Location: Oklahoma | Its a long way off but I have the go ahead from my husband my budget is $4000. I am wanting to find the best cross that i can afford for this mare. The maternal side is pretty stong. The only thing I can flaw about her is she is a very sensitive and can get exteremly hot.

Location: Gainesville, TX | She's bred really neat. He is a pretty cool stallion. I don't think you would go wrong there. I am betting its that Zevi up close that may be most responsible for the hotness though she has a few names in there that may contribute. But his are kind of known for that. |

I also have a Zevi bred mare and she is fragile minded, but with age has gotten better. Very slow to mature. This year I wanted to breed her to Streakin Boon Dox, but for $$ reasons I'll be breeding her to my own stud who is also out of a Boon Dox John daughter.

I have an On a high/Zevi mare, she crossed amazing on on Frenchman's Bogie. With a bigger budget next year I'm going to A Smooth Guy:) |

I would also agree with Streakin Boondox.
Another one I have seen with a great mind is Firewater Finale. |

Unfortunately I have not been around him myself. I do know his foals market well and obviously he has a stellar performance record. He is Firewater Flit and Firewater Fiesta on the bottom side (as is Fiestas Gotta Gun) and they are generally regarded as having good minds/being trainable. I know a little less about the Confederate Leaders though most Special Effort horses I have known were solid minded. I think he is made alright. I also immediately thought of BJO but keeping your budget in mind didn't suggest him. Going to the top of your budget, Epic Leader is probably smart. Keep in mind vet budget though. I am not sure how well Epic Leader ships or not. You might make some inquiries there.
A number of the other horses suggested here may not be at the top of your budget but they will still give you a good mind and an excellent prospect. One thing we cannot know about EL is whether he will be a producer himself yet. There are not enough older foals on the ground competing yet to know; we have only his own performance record to go on at this point.
SBL is a known producer though.

| I don't have much to add here other then we own a gelding by Zevi, he is retired now, but was hands down the best horse my daughter has ever run. He was HOT, but he was a bad ass machine and there isn't a day that goes by that my daughter doesn't wish she could still be running him. I guess for her, he is the one horse she will never be able to replace. Good Luck. |
