| IF you had access to only TSC. What is the best option in feed?
Pulled grain from my easy keepers this fall and they've done great. Now that we are back in near daily work - I feel like I should be feeding something more. So what would you recommend? OR would you suggest keeping only on good hay and grass pasture. I want him fit but not thin.

| sounds good! I'm the type that wants them fit but as soon as I see a glimmer of rib cage in the sunlight am shoveling food to them...
Have to get used to how "fit" looks.

Location: North Dakota | If your horse looks good on good hay and pasture then I would leave it be or if anything add alfalfa pellets with or without a small amount of oats. |

Location: Texas | We have lots of pasture right now and I feed mine a half a scoop of whole oats and alfalfa pellets. They all look great. I will say that the oats that I bought once from TSC (when my local feed store was closed for a holiday) were very dusty and now will only buy from my local feed store. |

| Agree with the above posters; if he's doing well on grass/pasture, just add some loose mineral and salt and you'll be good to go. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. If you think he needs a bit more, I'd add a little alfalfa. Keep it simple as possible. |

| I agree with everything the other posters have been saying! Give them what they need and keep it simple! My horses only get sweet feed to get them in from the pasture and to get them their supplements, other than that grass and some hay. I have to keep my main mare off gross a lot of the time because she swells up so easily. Definitely not hard to keep weight on her lol hay and grass would do it if not for the supplements! |
