It's been a horrible week. The heartache is unbearable. We lost a beautiful girl. My cowgirl niece. My sisters middle child. A few weeks shy of 17.
ETA:  she passed due to complications of a heart condition.
Im going to take her saddle to the visitation. Does anyone Have a suggestion for flowers or just the saddle?

I would take a folding saddle stand to set her saddle on and surround it with flowers and pictures..Maybe have her favorite boots and hat sitting with the saddle

So so sorry for you all's loss. I can't imagine but will be praying for you. I pray God brings you comfort and peace. I was going to add, that with the boots around her saddle you could put flowers in them. Maybe a beautiful waterfall type flower hanging on the horn and a picture in a frame propped up on the cantle of the saddle

I am so sorry. That has to be difficult. At Deb Mohon's funeral they put her saddle on top of her casket. It had an arrangement of red roses on the saddle. I am sure the florist had the saddle to do the arrangement.

I've been thinking about you a lot these last few days. I'm so sorry you lost her. I know how much she meant to you. Did she have a favorite flower? If so, maybe a bouquet on top of it. Hugs and many prayers to you all.

You can make a beautiful wreath from a coiled rope if you're at all artsy craftsy. It's pretty easy and very cowgirlish. I have very little talent for such things but made one for my brother's grave. It was beautiful and appropriate.

So sorry for this tragic loss. Can't imagine the pain.

Not to steal the thread, but I thought of you and your family today. . . Chandler's father that passed away last March was one of the "four musketeers" in his younger years. He and three friends were inseparable and did absolutely everything together; when they were old enough for girlfriends, we were all 8 together all the time. The youngest of the four (he would have been 46 on July 4) died this morning from stage 4 brain cancer, leaving behind a wife, a son who's a junior in high school, and a 12 year old daughter. My heart breaks, but he knew the Lord, so while the earth lost a great man, God gained a bright new angel. . . Your family is still in my prayers, and any prayers for Kirt's family would be appreciated.

Thank you all for the prayers and love from my BHW'ers.  Here is what her saddle turned out as.  I added her purple sash she won she was so proud of.  her show halter she got and finally won the grandchampion showmanship award at fair with last year.   Under her saddle was a beautiful purple saddle pad she showed with last year and her white hat with a small bouquet of flowers on the brim.
Lexi always from little on wanted a white show outfit.  I told her to get good and then we would get her white.  Well she was good.... and she got white last year to win with.

She was only ours to guard nurture, love and learn from for a little while on loan from God.  The lessons she taught us will live on.

Thank you Jake.  the family is doing ok.  when stark reality sets in that they are a family of 4 vs 5 it and other things seem to hit them very hard.  My sister did however go back to teach this fall.
