Location: North Dakota | I'm going bit shopping today. I want to start experimenting with finding a few that my horse likes. I "can" ride him in pretty much anything. For the last month I've been riding him in a lunging cavesson (so basically a very expensive sidepull). We are dedicating this summer to teaching him lateral flexion and loosening up his body. Now I know that's NOT a bit issue and a a new bit won't fix that, but I want something a little more...helpful? Than a snaffle. He tends to get very heavy on the bit in a snaffle and he knows he can run through it if he wants. I've never totally lost control of him in it, but we end up fighting each other. So all in all, recommendations for a good step or two up from a snaffle (note: he has been ridden in leverage bits such as a sweet 6, myler short shank, and jr. Cowhorse so he is familiar with them) that will be condusive to getting lots of bend and flex while still offering a bit more control than a snaffle? My tack store in town carries pretty much all off the goostree and professional's choice bits, so if it's one of those that would be extra great.Edited for typos.
