I have a mare that when she is in heat her appetite changes !!!! Basically during her heat it's hay only!! She will not touch anything in a bucket ! Feed that she licked clean and literally bangs on her bucket for, will not even look at during her cycle. Anyone else have one like this ? She feels great otherwise and seems to just like hay this time of the month. Lol

My appetite changes too during my cycle LOL. Except I'll eat anything and everything in sight. As for your mare, I wouldn't think it's a cause for concern.

Oh yea, me either. lol She is totally fine and in exceptional health. I wish she would just be able to tell me ahead of time if she wants her supplement and rice bran. lol THat way it doesn't stay in her bucket and get wasted. Last night she didn't want to touch her bucket this morning she licked it clean like I abused her. lol

I just posted about my mare who is not eating her grain (and has some other weird symptoms) and she's in full blown heat. I'm having the vet come out just to check her but we think it has to do with her being in heat.

I read your thread! Lol mine is on regumate so her heats are way way easier on her than they were but she still comes in. Mine is still totally fine to ride. Her appetite came back but again this morning it's a little off so I have no doubt mine is heat related.
How is she for keeping weight on? Mine's a little hard. My girl ate today and her temp is normal. When the vet comes, I imagine we'll talk about Regumate. Did you ever try red raspberry leaves? I give them to my mare but I don't know if they do anything.
