| What are your opinions on the First Moonflash horses going into the barrel pen. I want the good, and the bad. Do you own one? Do you like them? Temperments? Does anyone know how he crosses on a Streakin Six? |

Location: Where I am happiest | I dont have one but sure would like one. I said a year ago that he's going to make a heck of a barrel horse sire and he's sure living up to that. |

I am your favorite rash and you know it
Location: Being pushed over the edge, NM | I'll try to attach the pic after posting, I may not be successful... edit to add- it posted, yay! That's our yearling colt by First Moonflash out of our daughter of Streakin Six, http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/betelgeuse10 I've brokered dozens of OTT Moonflashes to barrel racers, I've sold them to everyone from weekend warriors to NFR and world champions. They are legendary for their sprinting speed so the match racers and now barrel racers love them, plus they are natural on the barrels. 99% of them are race bred (stud fee for the last 2 years as $12,500 so he bred some very good mares, full book every year) so I think that has helped as well. I've got pictures of my yearling Moonflash out of our daughter of Streakin Six here: http://www.speeddreamsracing.com/sales2.html and if you scroll down you will see some of my Moonflashes and many of the ones I've sold. We have a 2 year old on the track who's dam is a full sister to Jacky Ganter's Blazin Baby J's dam, one we bred is with Danyelle Campbell, Jeff and Leslie Makovy just bought our yearling Moonflash filly and she will be with Molli Montgomery. Sonya and Jim Walz just bought a gorgeous stud colt through me, https://www.facebook.com/375442827434/photos/pcb.10155142323427435/10155142308257435/?type=3&theater
And you can read all about First Moonflash on the website, which I try to keep updated but he's always got something winning somewhere so it's a challenge. I am very fortunate to be friends with his owners and live only minutes away, I have been telling them for years that he'd throw barrel horses, in fact my first-ever meeting with one of the owners, some 4-5 years ago, I brought them BHN magazines, lol. I FINALLY got them talked into the barrel incentives too... he'll be FF and others http://www.doublellfarms.com/first-moonflash.html

| I’ve been around 3 of them. They are stiffer, front endy horses. You can’t really train on one, they won’t take it. They do want to turn, which I like, however they are not my style and I personally would never own one.

I'd be very interested to hear how they're bred and what their past training was, the feedback I've gotten from my buyers (including NFR qualifiers) is polar opposite of what you're saying. I've got one gal that thinks the one she has "doesn't have enough fire" for what she's used to (her other is a hot DTF) and I have a client's 2 year old listed that was with one of the top racing trainers that sent the colt home, said he was "too laid back," the guy has his kids crawling all over him. |
