Location: Displaced Iowegian | Thank you to everybody for asking ..... I live in Pocahontas, AR and we made the national news for the flooding. I have received numerous PMs asking.....We are safe and sound. Our house is up on the ridge northwest of town so no fears of flooding. However, most of the southern and eastern parts of town are under water. That is the part of town where most of the restaurants, gas stations and shopping is located. We had a pretty severe flood in 2011 but this one is supposed to crest at 2-3' higher. Our main problem is that we are "landlocked" with the highways closed in every direction. |

Yes, that is Walmart in the middle. I don't know when that picture was taken but the water has spread further towards the bottom of the picture.

Yes, we are getting rain but not a deluge. I think they predict only 1-2". That being said they are getting more to the north of us......which doesn't bode well for the Black River receding anytime real soon! |

I had no idea you were one of us AR folks! Bless your heart, and everyone going thru all this. When we flooded last year it was just the most overwhelming, helpless feeling in the world. To sit and watch the water take over your life and memories inch by inch. . . . Many prayers and hugs for y'all. If we can help, just a pm away to do whatever we can for you |

Location: Oklahoma | I live in flood zone and lost a house trailer to flood. What I didn't realize was when the water was gone not only the damage that water does but the gunk and goo that is left on everything and no matter how much you feel like you clean something it never feels clean. It takes months to recover from a flood! Its not over when the water leaves! Prayers! |

No boat ...... LOL ..... but we are on the high and dry side of town with one grocery store and one gas station ..... I'm good but just can't go anywhere! |

Have they changed the landscape to cause this. I have no idea....However, most of this damage is caused by the failures of the levee protecting that part of town, which also failed in 2011. Before that time, I believe, that flooding was not bad (just backwater in low places). WHY they didn't fix THAT problem (after the 2011 flood) is beyond my imagination..... We moved here in 2008.

Thanks.....water is receding slowly and some roads have opened up. We could get west and north yesterday. If the roads don't open to the south, I will have to drive lots (50+) MORE miles to get John to his VA "consultation appointment" with an Orthopedic Surgeon on Tuesday. I had to cancel last week's appt and he has waited 3 months for this appt. |

Oh no---I know how frustrating that is because we've been trying to get Daddy's valve surgery done for over a month or more. And "things" just keep happening. Prayers that the water goes down and y'all get to that appointment and lined out. |
