previous owner told AQHA this horse was deceased bc she didn't want her to be ex husband getting the horse, so now the horse is considered grade. Horse is alive and well in my barn. Is there any way to push AQHA into reinstating the papers since it was falsified information? I'm not sure if DNA is on file or not. Anyone ever deal with this?

SKM - 2017-05-05 6:31 PM I'd imagine you could pull the DNA and prove what horse it is if you know the sire and dam. Then you should be able to go from there.
^^ This ^^ DNA will prove who the horse is. Along with the DNA, pics would also prove matching markings which AQHA will have on file.

Southtxponygirl - 2017-05-06 4:25 PM I would be calling AQHA and ask them if theres any thing you could do.
I have and they say there really isn't anything I can do. I just didn't know if someone had been in a similar situation and pushed hard enough to get the papers reinstated.

What if they don't have DNA on the sire and dam?
How old is this horse? I'm pretty sure DNA testing started in the late 80's. If this horse was on a breeding report, the stallion should have DNA on file. Same with the dam.

ThreeCorners - 2017-05-06 7:27 PM Now that you own the horse any possibility the old owner would sign a transfere and contact AQHA to help get it straightened out?
I tried before finding contact info but wasn't lucky

I would say that is the end of your journey. AQHA can't make anyone sign a transfer.
