Location: Southeast Louisiana | Swing out or the fixed kind? I want to add racks for saddle pads to the back door of my trailer, but I can't decide on which kind. Do the swing out type sag over time or break easier? It seems like the ones that bolt on both sides would be sturdier and handle the weight of western pads better.
Any BHW peeps have any words of wisdom on this topic? Personal experiences?
Thanks! |

Do you happen to have a picture of yours installed? Our rear tack is 60/40 rear doors and fixed saddle racks so trying to envision if this would work lol. |

| One thing I might add is to check to make sure that your door will close with a blanket bar back there and that it does not interfere with a collapsible tack. Very important. |

| The wall mount rack that CYA Ranch has can be ordered directly from the manufacturer.....EquiRacks in Sturgis, SD. It was cheaper than Valley Vet or NRS at the time we ordered and faster delivery too. Check them out.

Great tip, thanks. I believe it will work. I have a bunch of stuff stacked on the hooks that are there now, I'm sure it's as thick as the pads will be, but I will double check. Put in a stud wall, so I'm moving the bridle hooks up there. |

Location: Oklahoma | What type of trailer do you have? I'd recommend contacting the manufacturer and ordering one directly from them that will fit a 40/60 rear tack. Your rear tack is a bit smaller than a 50/50 and a standard blanket bar may not work. I know the manufacturer I work for can pull up your trailer by the last 5 digits of the VIN and make sure that a proper fitting item would be made. |

I did :) The difference is the price. The one from Lakota would be twice the price as the generic brand. So wondering if I can make it work lol. The dimensions say it should fit... but that doesnt always mean much. |

Check your warranty info too. If the trailer is under warranty and parts are added it may void any warranty |

| A blanket bar is one thing I wish my trailer had :( it has a 60/40 split and the door isn't big enough for one, plus there isn't enough space between the door and the saddle rack when it shuts to have one on the door |

| We put a bar the length of the trailer above the horses butts in the trailer for saddle pads. It hangs from the roof and has 4 supports. My husband made it. It works great and holds a lot of pads. |

The parts department is kinda difficult to deal with. I'd rather just avoid the stress and headache of dealing with them. Anyway, it's a nice trailer, just not a high end brand and the aftermarket parts will probably be better quality. |

When I read that, I thought it was a great idea, but figured they were up north... has it caused any problems with our heat in your friend's trailer? I was worried about air flow, if I happen to get stuck in traffic on a bridge or something. |

| We don't have more heat problems because of the blanket bar. We did add 2 drop down windows to the back wall and the other 2 are the bus windows that came on the trailer.

I live in TX. The pads were up up above the windows |

Success! lol
I might add a bar over the horses' rear later on, for extra storage. I do like that idea.

Location: Southeast Louisiana | Any suggestions for adding bridle hooks onto the wall in the first stall? I was going to just drill into the wall with some sheet metal screws, but the ones in the back door pulled out, so I need a better plan.
With the blanket bar, I went through the aluminum tubing with a nut & bolt, but I don't want to mess up the inner wall on my LQ. Any ideas would be appreciated. |
