Location: Oklahoma | For those of you who don't have facebook, just wanted to let you know that I am selling out and quitting barrel racing. My husband can retire in September, and we've found a house on the lake that we have a signed contract on. Closing is June 16. I've sold both my trailers, the large majority of my horse equipment is sold, and all my horses are gone but one, and I have a signed contract and deposit on him. We are auctioning off our place and all the contents, the barn , storage shed, tractors and implements, etc off on June 10 and will be ready to make a clean start on retirement the next week. I have enjoyed the horse business and it has truly been good to me, but it is time to move on to the next chapter. I thank all of you for your friendship and business, and will still be available for consultation on all things "horse" if needed. In fact, I will probably be hungry to talk "horse" so don't forget about me. Here are some pics of the house we are moving to....and if you know anyone that's looking for good horse property in OK....send them to the auction!!!

That little bar!!
It also has an outside shower so you can wash the sand off before you go in the house (or wake up someone about to pass out... ), but it wouldn't take some of my pics because they were too big. |

| Good for you Diane! I have been doing the same thing only too slowly. It is very hard to stop doing something you once loved so much, but " to every thing, there is a season". You will enjoy your new life as fully as you enjoyed your horse life. Your new place looks so inviting and comfortable, and the best thing is you get to spend time with your husband/family. There is nothing more important than that. What a wonderful new chapter in your life. Like a great ending in a romantic movie. I am envious. "Way to go Diane... Way to go!!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oQs_Fs2Ic8

Congratulations and best wishes on your retirement. I haven't been on here as long as most of your well-wishers, but I have always enjoyed and trusted your posts. And please do keep in touch. Especially when you go get that next pony in a year or so |

Well, it doesn't look like I'm out of horses after all. The gal that had a deposit and signed contract on my last horse just backed out. Both my trailers are gone (the last one left today) and almost all of my tack....taking new pics and putting him on BHW tomorrow. Sending him with a jockey who ran 5th in the 1D the first time he ever rode him to just haul him till he sells....again.... Just cements in my mind how much I DON'T want to do this any more. It's buyers like that. All the other deals went SO smooth and leave it to the last one to be a PITA.

No surprise there - that's why I sent my mare to a guy to sell for me, people are a PITA when it comes to buying and selling!
I am jealous of your new place!! Absolutely love it! Wish I could retire!! Enjoy, Enjoy!!! |

One of the reasons why I don't sell horses (or at least try to avoid it). If they come live with us I fully intend them to be here for ever. I only ever sold 2, and I had a friend of mine sell them for me. She does it for a living...So she is used to it.... Anyway, we will miss your advise and opinion here, so hopefully you won't leave us completely... But congrats on the new house, it is amazing! |
