This is a fairly small arena and my big boy just won't run hard between 1 and 2. I hustled him all I could. I know breezing opens one up and he gets lots of wide open running. Any other suggestions? A 15.0 is what won this race...

What was your time? The video does not say.
I thought it was a nice run overall. Nice clean pattern.
*Maybe* got a little hung up powering out of the 2nd barrel, and *maybe* turned the 3rd a smidge too soon to cause a little drift coming out of it. But that's getting fairly nitpicky.
I just learned a new drill from Ryan Lovendahl to teach a horse to power out of the turn. I'm not sure if I could describe it correclty though, lol.

Mine was 16.0. Our best time in the arena is 15.7. I see what you are saying about 2nd and 3rd. I felt that. I think the Hang up at the 2nd is because I can barely get him past it. He rates too soon!! I'll have to google for the Ryan drill. Thanks so much!

You lost a lot of time on the 1st.
Check the pocket it may be too close going in as he goes way back behind barrel and has to gather up to push off. He looks a little lost for a second then pushed off.
The 2nd n 3rd you are not doing that.
Very nice 3rd by the way.
Nice pony and nice run :0)
Your march video your 1st barrel was nice.
Nice pony :0)

I agree with losing time on first. You sliced it. Slicing is the biggest problem people have with first. They slice the pocket, the horse has to go by the barrel, come to a point and basically roll back around. It slows the turn and momentum down. They you have a short run to second so it's hard for a big horse to get rolling again. Fix the slice and that should improve your time by almost half a second.
