Also, looking for studs by him that are not gray. So far I found a nice buckskin one in Oklahoma.
Thank you. | |

Location: on the fine line between insanity and geniusness | My first futurity filly was by a son of playgun. I LOVED her. She was gritty, tough and super smart. She was also out of a straight cow mare, but was surprisingly fast with a really big step. I know you don't want gray, but I've also heard really good things about Fiestas Gotta Gun.

| PG Dry Fire is siring some really tough barrel horses up here in the NW. I want one so bad, but they're hard to find, and I don't have a mare I could possibly breed right now :/ | |

| Playgun himself was super lazy and laid back until he saw a cow lol- but crossed on run and as a maternal sire I think you can't go wrong! Best minded- would love a PG broodmare some day. | |

I was at a sale in Abilene, TX last week and they sold a gorgeous own daughter with a baby at her side for only $3,500. That seemed cheap to me.

I was surprised. She was big, well proportioned, dappled and only 8 or 9 years old. Beautiful mare.

| I have a 3yr old FGG filly. She has me sold on Playguns. I wish I had a barn full. From her dam, I had a BJO, FWF son, and her and she is by far my favorite. She's built right, smart, laid back and everything comes easy to her. I will see if there is a way I can post a picture. She chipped her cannon bone as a 2yr old so we are just starting to get her going good. The only thing I don't like about her is her pancake feet, but her momma had those. Nothing phases her (that's why she is always getting hurt because she is into something!) I'm not a gray fan either, but I adore her. | |

You probably wont find anything on him.. He is just a family ranch/cow horse... same as his dam, both are family ranch horses.
Sire is dapple gray and dam is a Palomino. The breeder said the sire is gentle, level headed, smart and athletic. And loves to work!

| I love hearing the good reviews on PG breeding. Been considering Hired Gun for a TB mare I may be getting down the road, I heard the PGs were great in the pen and thought it may be a good cross to all that run. | |
| | |

| We bred our TB mare to Hired Gun this spring, and are expecting a foal in 2018. 95% sure it's a filly (which we were hoping for), but the dang thing keeps thwarting our efforts to sex her again and be 100% sure (foal gymnastics!). I've always been a fan of the run/cow cross, and our mare is pretty thick and super calm for a TB, so we are hoping to get the best of both worlds. Our mare is a funky grey/roan color like HG; we think the foal should be pretty neat all around. I am a huge fan of Playgun for his mind and looks, and HG (from what I've been told by a friend that works at The Ranch) is quite a gentleman. HG did get hurt this year, but was able to return to the breeding shed, and hopefully he is healed enough to start competing again! Next year we plan on breeding our mare to FGG (as Firewater Fiesta was always my dream mare growing up), and keep that Playgun line going!
Here's a link to the 2018 foal's papers, it wouldn't let me put the year as 2018, so the year is wrong:

If you can't tell I am excited for this foal, I already made a flyer for the breeding cross (attached below).
This is my first ever post, but I have been a lurker for years, so please bare with me if I didn't do things right! Thanks!

I come from a ranching/rodeo background and have started/competed on numerous cutting, running, appendix bred horses, but my husband worked as the resident vet at a TB breeding farm, so he's getting me into that realm. Let me tell you, he is just as excited for this foal as I am, which is great!

Love the cow/run as well! The sorrel mare in my avi is old ranch/cow on top and black type run on bottom. She never got started unfortunately (bought her aged) but boy she had a fancy, freaky athletic paint colt her first foaling by Jet Streakin. Love the way the cow and run mesh, thus my interest in PG for a TB outcross.
Current plans for my sorrel mare are wait on the foal by a blue roan stallion a friend owns and then next year I have my eyes on a PM son o/o a BB daughter. Drooling over the idea of that cross. Love the breeding side of things so much!

I bet your sorrel mare throws some balanced, big hip foals based on her papers alone! And what you said about your paint foal proves it! Doesn't it make your heart just soar?! The breeding aspect of the horse industry is one of the coolest facets in the industry itself! There needs to be a fantasy football for equine genetics!!

Two of my favorites wrapped up in one
Ya, her first colt was so well balanced. Unfotunately he passed not long after I sold him, freak internal abscess that cysted and stayed walled off near his hernia that never displayed any issues until he colicked one day, it took an ultrasound to find it. I'll have to share pictures when I get home, have some of him moving in the field and he was just so pleasing to watch.

| Fantasy equine gentics would be fun! Though I already have plenty of the fantasy part in my head lol
I know there isn't a ton of money in the breeding game but man I love seeing how nice a specimen I can make with the genetics out there.

Oh oh excuse me! I was so wrapped up in Playgun I completely missed the M for Panther Mountain! He is GORGEOUS! Now we just need to get a nice cow bred mare to cross to him!
I am so sorry to hear about that foal, that is terrible! We've dealt with client horses that had internal abscesses and they're such a big waiting game (once you get them diagnosed), but until you figure out that's what it is- they make you want to pull your hair out thinking it could be anything!
Here's to the next one being healthy and happy!
Speaking of fantasy breedings, I made an excel spreadsheet with all the possible crosses on our TB mare for next spring, and three of the stallions we liked were PG sons!

Here's to the next one being healthy and happy!
Speaking of fantasy breedings, I made an excel spreadsheet with all the possible crosses on our TB mare for next spring, and three of the stallions we liked were PG sons!
Yeah, we were floored and by the time we knew it was there it was far too late. But that's part of the breeding game unfortunately.
There are so many nice PG sons out there! I need more mares!!
