Yesterday, my husband bought a salt block with sulfur for the horses, telling me it would help with fly control. I've never heard of it being made available to horses. Is this safe?

My horses never really cared for the sulfur salt blocks they always like the mineral and just the plain better.

He put it out this evening and they are only going to the mineral block, ignoring the sulfur salt block.

Mine also only like the mineral block. We add salt to their grain.

Too much sulfur can be toxic to horses.

We've fed them to our horses in the summer for years. They are supposed to help with ticks. Unless it is really rainy though we feed loose salt & mineral. Because eating on the blocks wear their teeth.

I give one during the summer months too.  Living in Florida I have bahia seed heads up around their ears, it seems to help with ticks.

Thanks for all of the answers everyone! I just couldn't find any information pertaining to horses and sulfur. They haven't touched it at all. They have been licking their mineral block.
