| My guy just had one drained on his knee last week. Tendon sheath was extremely swollen, and from that, his tendon was also a tiny bit swollen. Drained, injected w/ steroids. Now he's on 2 week stall rest. I changed his bandages for the first time yesterday, knee looks much better already. Instead of a large "bubble" it's now a small knot. Not sure what your vet told you, but mine told me that because the sheath is so sensitive, the swelling may or may not return. Either way would be normal, and he will not be effected in the long run. Even if the swelling comes back, he will still be A ok to compete on. Hope this helps! I'm worried for my boy, but the vet doesn't seem to have any doubts he will be competing again =] BUT...since his tendon was involved, he will need the entire summer off, and to come back extremely slowly =/ Anything for our babies haha. Also, it's called a carpal hygroma when the tendon sheath is swollen, so that's what my boy had =] I googled a lot about it (never heard of it before) and it's usually nothing to worry about =] Good luck, keep us posted! |
