Just wanting to see if anyone had any opinions on these X-rays. Diagnosis was a fractured sesamoid bone. Before and after X-rays in the pics. Do they look any better? Does he have any hope for a barrel future? Anyone experienced this before? Completely sound in the pasture at this time. Has not been put back to work yet. Thanks man advance.

I don't have much experience reading x-rays but I had an OTTB with a broken sesmoid bone. We removed a chip as a precaution and brought him back slow. He went on to run barrels and eventually did 3 day eventing. I was always told it was the best break to have because it is non-weight bearing. Good luck

It's typically not that big of a deal with youngsters and tends to lend itself more towards cosmetic as they grow older. The break/chip/fracture will usually scar up and not move.

Older, I've never dealt with but would think it would requre more time and possible removal

The vet has said it has calcified some. He hasn't said anything about a chip in there. I don't know if it is something that will break off or just calcify and heal up in the next few years.
