I have used step in posts with a string of hot wire and a small charger for a few years. That has always been fairly easy for me. I only was hauling one horse and she's pretty laid back. I recently upgraded to the PVC portable corrals since I have a second horse now that is a little more flighty. I really like those, but they do take up my whole front stall and I can make 2 12x12 stalls out of them though.

This is the place I went, you just have to put them together yourself. I got mine on sale where you buy 8 and get 10 for under $400 shipped.

Try tipping them on their ends. They should take up only half your stall that way.
