My farrier suggested a hoof supplement for my good mare. She has great feet, they just don't hardly grow much. SHe is on 7-8 Week shoeing schedule and nails are tight and he has to hardly trim anything off of her. I tried the the Tractor supply hoof formula and she won't touch it ( It does have a unique smell). I have her on the Adeptus hoof now since she LOVES other supplements by them but its a struggle. Anyone have a formula that horses really like? They are all pretty much the same ingredient wise so looking for palatability aspect here.. Thanks!

I have had the best results with FINISH LINE HORSESHOE. Finishline makes two hoof products the other one is FEET FIRST. i have only used the Horseshoe. Horse eats it well and best results. Probably the most cost effective too. Have used Farriers Formula and did not see that much of a difference.

SmartHoof Ultra Pellets from SmartPak.

I do have all of mine on Platinum Performance and have noticed a huge difference all around, including their hooves.

I was going to suggest adeptus but I see you already have her on it. Have you tried farriers formula extra strength ? I know people have said that it can take up to 6 months to notice a difference once you begin a hoof supplement.

I have fed FARRIERS FORMULA EXTRA STRENGTH for a couple of years and have not been overwhelmed with teh results. Fed the HORSESHOE for several years and felt like the results were good. Only quit feeding HORSESHOE was because Platinum was supposed to have a hoof supplement in it.

Agree, we have all of ours on Platinum. Started with a hard keeper who really started to bloom FAST when we put him on it - I was super skeptical when my chiro said I'd see results in a week or 10 days with no loading dose.

Our whole barn gets it now, we just started my husbands rope horses on it about 10 days ago and my old school cowboy father in law wants some now, they just bloomed.

And we have no lack of foot to trim every 4 weeks. Our barefoot trimmer is a huge believer in the big picture. You can feed a horse all the biotin you want, but if they don't have the micro essential nutrients to utilize it, it's a moot point.

Thats what she is on now.... and she " Tolerates" it is the best way to describe it. And Yep, she has been on Forco for a year now. I won't ever be without it.

That's what I use. It's a pellet and my horse eats it right up. Totally turned her feet around--she's a 4 stocking paint.

Have you tried the platinum?

Yep, I did. It gave her WAY WAY WAY to much energy. Thats why I would really like a palatable hoof only supplement. THanks!

I settled on some Curost EQ green. I have used it in the past and my horses have always licked it clean.. It is targeted to general health of hoof/soft tissue etc...

I really like DAC foundation formula. It's granulated and you do feed a decent sized scoop but it's not so much that that it overwhelms their feed. I hate supplements that you have to feed a ton of. It does have a strong smell but I kind of like it. My guy has had pretty good results with it so I have have stuck with it for about 8 months now. His feet have been a lot better.

If the hooves are strong and holding the shoe good, great, that is less shoer costs.  I use Perfect Horse as an all around supplement and am very happy with it.  The hooves are strong from feeding it.
