I broke mine 9 weeks ago. Didn't heal lined up. So my healing process was longer. I've been back to riding 3 weeks now and competed the past 2. When you feel comfortable you'll know it's time.
Follow doctors orders. If you don't like them, find a sports medicine doctor to do a consult. It might be awful being grounded, but being permanently grounded or penalty deformed will be a whole lot more awful.

barrelracinbroke - 2017-06-11 12:32 AM Mine needed a plate. Took 4 or 5 months to get back to riding.... but I had 5 other broken bones so, that might've contributed to the delay! Lol
Agree with this...broke mine in two places, now proud owner of plate and 9 screws, 6 months healing. However as the doctor said ' I was doing much more than they appreciated'.
Dislocated mine at the SC joint many times. Usually two-three weeks before I was riding again after a dislocation. Mine have all been the "good" dislocations and thankfully haven't needed surgery on it yet but they tell me its just a matter of time before I have a bad one.

It took me about 4 months to feel completly healed again. I was young and dumb though and was back on a horse right at 3 months bc I had a race I was already entered in. Dont recommend doing that! But I also had 4 broken ribs that were screaming at me telling me that was I was doing was dumb.
