WHAT ARE EVERYONE'S THOUGHTS ON STONEY BARREL SADDLES? HOW DO THEY FIT ON HORSES? WHAT TYPE DOES THE WIDE TREE FIT THE BEST?
THANKS!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!!  I've owned three!  The regular tree didn't fit any of my horses.  The wide will fit my big shoulder / built like a tank horses without any pad adjustment.  With a thicker high quality pad, I can fit a "normal" horse with it.  High quality, well made, well balanced saddles!  I've had every brand of saddle out there at one time or another (high end and low end!) and these are tops for me.

 Worth it.
Contact Jim and ask for the specs of the wide tree or ask him what brand of tree he uses... If you want him to build on a tree you know that fits your horse you may ask him if that's possible.  This will give you a better idea of fit once you know the tree specs.

I rode a friend's for a year and liked it. I just bought one two months ago and love it. Both were wide trees but mine is newer and Jim said that the tree in mine has a bit more flare than his older wide trees. He was awesome to work with. He took over an hour to fit my horse, educate me on fit and try different pads to get the perfect fit. Highly recommend. BTW I use it on a wide, large shoulder, very sprung rib cage horse with a 3/4" 5 star pad. That said, I was in a pinch a few times and used the same pad and saddle combo on my narrow 14.2 mare and it rode fine, I think with a thicker pad I could almost ride her all the time in it.

Super nice quality, but you better make dang sure you know what size seat you are getting. If you think you ride a 13 1/2", get a 14"-14 1/4" cause they run SMALL! Even though I had a beautiful one made, I'm back to riding a Coats. What people are pricing used ones for is what I paid for a new one with elephant seat, so maybe their has been a HUGE price increase as well.

Excellent saddles. You don't see many Stoney's come up for sale because people love them, but whenever you do they get snatched up real quick.

Definitely truth to that. My friends is a 14 and she usually rides a 13.5. Mine is a 15 and I usually ride a 14-14.5. I ride a looser seat though, I don't like my legs being pinned in. I like that there is quite a bit of movement in the fenders too. Prices have gone up quite a bit if you talk to folks who ordered them 5+ years ago they paid almost half of today's new saddle price.
