With 4th of July coming up... what does everyone do with their horses and dogs? I only have 1 dog with issues to loud noises, I bring both dogs inside when I start hearing them... they are usually fine as long as they are inside. My horses, I've always left turned out on the pasture because I never had a barn until this year, but I'm still thinking I'll leave them out since they were fine the year before. . We live rural but we have a few neighbors that can be idiots ... usually doesn't last very long anyway.

I feel like my horses panic more if they are stalled up when there is guns shooting behind the pasture... but when they are turned out they don't seem bothered much.

Luckily we are pretty rural, but it's also the first year fireworks have been legal in Iowa (not that folks didn't go buy them in Missouri and set them off anyway) so it's hard telling what will happen.
Horses will be fine, they've all been to rodeos with fireworks and could care less (I actually think a couple of them like watching!)
We will be on the way home from rodeos, I will probably have my in laws put the dogs in the house before they leave to meet us at the last rodeo.

My horses are usually pretty good about fireworks as long as they are shot off too close to them. I recently aquired my moms dog (now mine), and she's scared to death of thunder so I have no idea what I'm going to do on tuesday

Horses get turned out and are fine. My two dogs aren't concerned with Fireworks. We sometimes lock them inside the garage but they usually find thier way out and lay on the porch instead. lol

Ours are fine with the normal bottle rockets, fire crackers etc that normal people do...but we have an over achiever neighbor that has a guy that will "sell him the big stuff". The size of the mortars and aerial explosions is really more than the horses can tolerate. They panicked and ran to the farthest away spot on our property from the show. It's tha panicked running that scares me. They could easily run into a tree or fence in the dark with the flashes ruining their night vision temporarily.
This year I'm likely going to stall them and possibly sedate them. That way if the fool sets the National Forest we all live in on fire...It'll be easier to evacuate them. (only half kidding there)

My mare runs year round, rain or shine. She has gotten the laziest of geldings to run a few laps with her before so even if she did spook it wouldn't be much different than her current lap around the pasture. I think for most horses seeing what it is is better than hearing it and wondering what it is.
