| Need advice from anyone that's gone through this. I know I need to be patient and give the treatment more time, just don't know what to do in the meantime.
When I started riding my horse to get him back in shape for competition, he was showing RF lameness, grade 3, per vet. Rads at vet showed lesions in navicular bone. He was injected with Osphos, with no reactions. I followed up with Previcox 4 days later, gave daily for 2 weeks. Vet said continue exercise and give Previcox as needed. He should show improvement after 4-8 weeks. If not, another injection of Osphos 3 months after the initial.
Well, it's been 5 weeks now, still on Previcox daily. He has had some days with light lameness, but yesterday, after some exercise he was much worse. I am riding him about 3-4 times per week. No barrel work.
Should I continue riding or slack off some, or quit for a while? |

Location: 31 lengths farms | My gelding did something similar a few years ago... Most of his issue turned out to be a very very deep abscess that sat right on the digital pad . Also please please be careful giving any NSAID for that long a period. I learned the hard way. I now have a mare with kidney stones due to long term use and an acquaintance of mine has a horse fighting for his life due to kidney failure the vets are saying is due to toxicity from the same NSAID used long term as prescribed by a vet. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.
Also with that said, my gelding that had the feet issues it took about 3 weeks to feel and see the difference from the 1 Osphos shot. |

| Run n rate. Oh, I need to clarify. He was on Previcox for the first 2 weeks daily, then after a few rides and he would be lame again. He would have a few good days. I gave previcox only when his lameness would get worse, but this week after 3 days straight of dosing, his lameness was much worse. He has not been on Previcox for 5 weeks straight.
Thank you for the NSAID warning. I didn't think of that. So sorry for what you and your friend are going through. We do what we think is best for our babies. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | NSAIDS are a necessary evil and my new protocol will be to run a kidney herb thru my horses after a round if any MSAID as well as a yearly blood panel . :-) |

Location: North MS | Have they not considered alternating with Tildren? I literally just gave my mare 3 months off completely and started legging back up like we took a regular break. |
