Location: In The Snow, AZ | So let's play a game... hubby found this thing, already dead, presumably by the barn cats. It is approx 7 inches long. Obviously not a mouse so I assumed it was a rat as I have never seen one before. Lol. I've shown it to a few people and they're saying it's NOT a rat and possibly something either mutated or a cross breed of some sort? Wondering what y'all thought and hoping I never see one again.

LOL, what we call a ground hog around here goes 15 to 20 pounds, but I am guessing you are referring to a prairie dog?
A rat is a rat is a rat IMHO. |

Not a gopher. I'd probably say rock chuck if I were to guess. |

Location: My own little world! | It's hard to tell for sure from it's current state, but I say pack rat. Some people call them a wood rat. I call them horrible. Because they are Horrible. They look sorta cute, with their big eyes, but it's a trick. They will destroy your vehicle trying to make a nest in the engine area. They smell, they pick my flowers and try a make a nest in all kinds of places they don't belong.
They. Are. The. Worst. |

I agree. They are interesting creatures but very destructive. They take "pretties" and leave you junk. |

I've actually shared my pajamas with one, nonconsensual of course! |

This is what my moms husband said too!
Whatever it is, I've never seen anything like it around here before. My mom had a pack rat problem (in a rental*my mom is extremely clean). She had the exterminator out and he showed her one. It apparently didn't look anything like this. But maybe it's state of decomposition changed his boyish good looks. Regardless, I do hope to not see any more of them! |

Perhaps it was a single chupacabra and the world is now rid of that menacing creature |
