For those who use guanabenz,what is the dosage you give and the mg/ml ? I have 2 different bottles one is 4mg/ml and the other is 20mg/ml. Quite a difference. I will talk to my vet today. Also,have you ever given this orally? I realize some people don't like this drug and I respect that. Thanks
I use the 20mg. .3- .8 cc for mine, most .5 cc. I've never used a full cc. I give it before I get on to warm up. I asked a vet about giving it orally and he said it won't hurt them but it might not be as effective.
I believe it's always given in the muscle and I think around here it's normally the 8mg and given IM not oral... and between 1 and 2cc's for a 1000 lb horse... but check with your vet to be sure...
I give it IV only. Full dosage is as follows: 20mg it's 1cc, 4mg it's 5cc, 2mg it's 10cc, 8mg it's 2 1/2. Whenever I try it for the first time with a horse, I go half-dose to see how they respond.
