I havent been able to find a spray yet that works on them. So i just try to ride at different times. they seem to be out more by my hay fields and always the worst right before sun starts to go down. so i try to ride as the sun is setting or later. Someone said dryer sheets before but it didnt work for me.

Get some small tree branches and put them in your bridle ((browband bridle works best) and in your breast collar. We usually use pine but have used sweet gum. Anything leafy

EZALL Fly Spray. new out this year. it works. It is all natural all essential oils which made me go hmm at first if it would really work or if it was EZALL just getting in on the new all natural craze going on. Works for all flying critters we even apply it to ourselves for gnats and mosquitos. Only thing i have noticed is dont spray it on their face use a rag or your hand to apply it to their face. We have used pretty much every brand of spray out there and this one really works.

Nothing works. I ride at basically sunrise. By noon everyone's in the barn with fans blowing on them until dusk, then they get turned out in a dry lot.

We don't have many deer flies here but we do have HUGE HORSE FLIES! Riding after 9:30 am could get you bucked off. We ride early or late or on a really windy day....only way to survive. If someone knows of a repellent that a horse fly will respect please tell me! :)

Pyrahna.i find the aerosol works MUCH better than spray bottle.

I think it confuses them but it works like a champ and is the cheapest thing going. My ex-husband's third ex-wife told me. I guess that is just as absurd.
