Just got back from a vacation in Alaska. By far this guided tour was the highlight and the coolest thing I have ever done. Here are two of the gazillion videos we took- these are 2 different momas and babies.

So you were not worried about Momma Bear coming for you? But really cool to beable to watch them in person
Not really, you get caught up just watching them so close. The tours have been going there for 30 years so the bears are used to people and never have had an incident, they are in a protected park so don't see humans as a threat, lots of good groceries, they stop the tours in September when they are really trying to bulk up for winter, guides are prepared with flares and spray. If you don't follow the strict rules the tour is over. We took a Cessna to the park and landed on the beach there.

I can easily imagine some fool wanting to get close and do the Animal Planet thing, just to show they have some magical ability to calm a mama grizzly and get it to nuzzle them.
Kinda like the time I watched some idiot go in the water with his cell phone to get close up videos of an adult Bull Shark thrashing around feeding in 3 feet of water.
