We want to put up some 4 rail wood fence. Does anyone know what all the farms down in Kentucky use for wood? Is it rough sawn, treated or non treated?

Then the paint....I know you can buy "Kentucky black paint". That's not the name but I can't remember what it is. It's supposed to last much longer than regular exterior paint. Anyone have experience with this? We bought good exterior paint for our exterior window trim on our house and within 2 years it was chipping and flaking off. Would rather not have to paint the fence that often.

The paint comes from Lexington Paint and Supply in Nicholasville KY. You can google them to find out more info. They have different types. I've had good luck with it.

Most are untreated boards. The paint is has tar/asphalt in it. Easy to maintain and the horses leave it alone for the most part.

The boards are rough cut oak.   What they are coated in is not normal paint.
