Theres alot of people that have horses off the track, no big deal just have the one your looking at vetted and go from there, all the ones I have bought some were awesome and a few not so awesome. I live where there are plenty and know trainers so it was easy picking.

If you have a reputable trainer you can buy from I say go for it. Just keep in mind these horses were started very early and some may have lasting damage to their joints as a result. Just be aware that some may need extra joint support and may be prone to injury after coming off the track. (Some, Not all. Every horse is different.) I used to run many off the track when I was younger and I always put them on a supplement for their joints. I took them for injections quite often as well. Most developed arthritis in their later years. I prefer ones that have never been on the track to try and avoid early joint problems, but it's all personal preference really. If my budget allowed me too, I may take another off the track, but it's just feasable right now. To me they are extra to upkeep. But again, each horse is different and the ones I had may not have been the norm.
