I'm going to try feeding Curcumin (tumeric) to a horse of mine for daily pain relief--if he will eat it. I have an extra jar in my spice stash, so I'm going to try sprinkling it on his feed over a few days before taking the plunge. I'd like to order it in bulk on Amazon, as it seemed to be pretty reasonable there, so here's my questions...
1) Is there one kind that is better than others? Raw...organic...blah blah blah, etc?
2) How much do you typically feed an 1100# plus horse?
3) How soon did you see results?
Thanks in advance!
Edited because I realized I typed Cumin instead of Curcumin.
I just started feeing my gelding turmeric about 2 weeks ago. Surprisingly for a picky eater ... he LOVES it! I mix it with his T.H.E. supplement and a little omolene 200.
I'm thinking too early to feel results yet but we'll see. He's getting a little over a tablespoon most days.
1 tablespoon turmeric, 1 tablespoon cold-pressed unrefined coconut oil, 4-6 turns of fresh ground black pepper. My horse loves turmeric and will lick her tub clean. I give it to her 2x daily and buy organic turmeric off of amazon prime by the pound
On amazon I would order Starwest brand Tumeric. The brand absolutely matters because you want it to come from verify sources. I would start with one tablespoon, 10 grinds of pepper and an ounce or two of some oil as the fat source.
