| Combo bit, but with a metal noseband worked for my mare. |

Location: Saskatchewan | I know this isn't what yu want to hear but there are massive holes in your training of she has blatantly ran through all of those bits.
I would suggest finding a good trainer for the both of you. Maybe even take some dressage or reining lessons to actually put a mouth on your horse because right now, she's just ignoring you completely.
My mare is a free runner as well, and with her, less has always been more because she is the type to get frustrated if I get too up in her business with a bit. I spent a lot of time teaching her rate so I could run her in a a snaffle and stay out of her way. |

| My very free runner really respects the Fred Hunter All around to win bit. I have had good luck riding and warming up in it and then running in my combo ( sort of like a Josey million dollar bit, but mine is an old trammel ) I do on occasion run her in the Fred Hunter all around when she has been getting particularly strong. It will usually take about 2 runs to get her back where I want. I also be sure to not change bits to my run bit too early. No tuning once it is on, just go run. |

I fully agree in the nicest way possible. A free runner is not a runaway. Just like a push style is not a barrel hitter IMO.
If she's running through bits, there's a hole somewhere, or she's having a pain issue.
