I personally have had good luck with the smartpak supplements, and have liked the way a few of the MVP products looked, but is there really a supplement out there that provides adequate digestive and joint support that the price tag calls for?? I loved loved loved using SmartGut Ultra. It kept my ulcer prone mare from needing gastrogard when I hauled BUT I couldn't afford a joint supplement with it!

Kind of a rant post I suppose lol.

ETA: Is cosequin still the only FDA approved oral joint sup on the market?

Depends on what all you want in an all around supplement.

We feed Platinum Performance. Love the way our horses look and feel on it. We don't do the CJ but if you can get by with 1 scoop a day the price is still comparable to others like Exceed 6 way. Instead we feed Actiflex for joint support.

Edited to add - I've fed Exceed 6 Way and OxyMax/MagMax. I've never seen the "wow" factor the way I have with Platinum, both on horses that clearly needed some help and just the extra bloom on ones we already thought looked good.

Love the Platinum. We use the CJ on our whole herd. I know what others say, but I can see the difference in my kids. . . . Ages 10 to 38

what does Platinum CJ run per horse per month? And is the "CJ" the original all around platinum mix PLUS joint or only joint?

Thanks!

I've had lots of amazing results with a clean diet, and Cur-OST the past 2 years on 5 in my barn.

I've been using Smart Pak supplements for years on my horses. UNTIL I called and asked where the supplements were made - USA or somewhere else.  I asked 3 different reps at 3 different times and no one had a answer and said they would get back to me. I never got a call. It really disturbed me as the reps there are so helpful, how would they NOT know where their supplements are made?  I've have switched to a product I know is made.  I don't care about packaging as much as where the facility is.

CJ is Platinum Performance PLUS joint support. I used to feed PP, never did the CJ bc at the time I was feeding Cosequin ASU+ to those horses. I then went through a Cur-Ost phase but couldn't justify the cost for the results. A few months ago I decided to eliminate everything and start from scratch. Right now I feed grass hay, a handful of soaked alfalfa cubes once a day and Thunder Mountain Minerals and my horses look just as amazing on TMM as they did on Platinum, if not better. I haven't run the cost comparison so I'm not sure which one is more cost effective.

We feed the regular at a cost of $0.86/scoop. When we have the extra money we plan to get on their bulk barn program since we have 7 head on it.

Just looking at their website and feeding calculator the CJ runs $2.53/scoop. we get by with 1 scoop/head of the regular stuff, I am not sure of the CJ dosing.

I have tried them all. I have used many different ones for at least a year (to give them a fair test) and PLATINUM PERFORMANCE has worked best for me. I have fed that for about 5 years now. I did have one horse on Platinum CJ but quit feeding it to him because I quit riding him. When I took him off the CJ I could see what it had been doing. Sometimes you don't realize a product works until you take the horse off it.

I feed THE to all mine.  You can customize or just feed the base supplement.

I fed Platinum for years, and loved it.  It did make a few of mine pretty hot, but they all looked and felt good.  It is more expenseive than THE.

I tried THE after a few others looking for something cheaper than Platinum and that worked.  I feel liek I get the same results without the hotness.

I did not have much luck with Platinum Performance. I didn't see a lot of change, then my mare stopped eating it all together.

I do LOVE MVP Exceed 6 Way. My mare looks fabulous on it and it's the only supplement she gets. But, I would add I also use Adequan also with her for joint support.

I won't use anything but MVP products anymore. I tried probably 15 others before sticking with MVP products. I liked the way Platinum made their coats looked, but their joints suffered. The consistency of the joint fluid went more watery instead of the slippery, elastic consistency. I also didn't realize that Platinum Performance itself has little/no joint support, you have to use the CJ version to get any joint support. Switched to Exceed 6-Way and not only is their joint fluid the best its ever been, my injections were pushed farther apart and I've had less digestive upset. One that gets impacted quite often hasn't had a colic episode since and his "roaring" has decreased. So for me its a win win. Plus, its also clinically proven and not many companies will put the finding into research like that without it working. 60 money back guarantee, can't go wrong. I liked it so much that after awhile of use I became an Ambassador for MVP. I have all 3 of my horses on MVP supplements & I'm happier than I've ever been with any other product.

I'll second this.  By simplifying my feed program and using the Cur-OST products, my feed bill is cheaper than ever before even WITH my Cur-OST (maintenance dose of one product) and my  horses are doing so much better.  I will never be without it in my barn!

I have had the WOW factor on Platinum Performance too, my mare looked AWESOME when I looked at her to buy. She has great feed program and she looks great,. but I just started her back on the Platinum because she looked even more sunning on it.

I'm tired, but if my math is right, about 100 every 4 or 5 weeks. And yes, the CJ is the original formula plus joint. It's expensive, but I've SEEN the results with my 5. . . . .

I have used Exceed 6-Way, PP, PP CJ and Tight Joints Plus. Didn't notice any difference with any of them. Currently I'm using nothing but Alfalfa and some grass has, I alternate.
Good Luck
