Usually, a state university that has an Ag Dept does it. We use TAMU and I am sure they will test for anyone. You need to go by their guidelines for collecting samples. Your County Agricultural Agent should be able to help you.

Edited to add that if it is hay that you are buying especially from a feed store, it is not worth it.

The state labs are your best bet like the above poster said, but if you need a sugar content not every state lab does that. Call first. Equi- analytical is who i use for sugar content for my sensitive horse.

Does anyone know how much this normall runs price wise? The barn i board at did hay this year and the owner is NOT horse savy at all, hes still learning, and id like to get it tested before i buy. It would be easier considering its already on the property and cheaper but want to make sure its good enough for my boys. TIA

The package I went with this year was $28.  But remember, the results you get back are only as good as the representable sample you send in. This site should be able answer all of your questions.   http://equi-analytical.com/standard-analytical-services/

I use Servi-Tech for feed analysis.
They offer a very detailed nutritive profile and are easy to work with.

If you happen to need a hay probe core sampler let me know!  Equi-Analytical recommends you use a core sampler to get samples from the inside of multiple bales.  I used to test my hay all the time and I have the probe.  But I don't use it anymore.
