I like mine. It's not too heavy. I've had it for 10 years and it's held up well. It doesn't fit every horse, but the gelding I used it on won a lot of money wearing it.

Yes I have a Frank Vega barrel saddle. I won it in 2002... custom made so I asked for a Lynn McKenzie tree , 14 inch seat ...rough out fenders and tooled skirting...
I love it ...it fit's just about everything I put it on and I've made a lot of money in it ...
If you're looking to buy one I say go for it!

I have a trophy one- Deep and secure seat and decent fit on modern made horses. Its not my go-to saddle.. but I dont mind riding it at all.. Very light and made well with decent leather.. I bought it as a colt starting saddle and its too nice for that purpose.

I have tried one and I did not like it at all. I didnt really like how it fit the horse I put it on, but that doesnt mean it doesnt fit other horses. I wished I could explain how it felt. I also dont know if there are different tree's or not, but this one might have been a wide as I felt my hips were spreading.. HA HA if that makes any sense. Very uncomfortable and I wouldnt have been able to ride it for very long. :(
