I would like to know likes and dislikes from people who have run in these saddles. Are the fenders forward hung on all of them or just some? On the seat do you prefer a slick seat or suade? Do they keep you seated well? Any and all info appreciated. I know the gullet comes in 6 1/2 6 3/4 and 7 do they seem to fit your horses well? My 2 horses are kinda average width so Im thinking 6 3/4. Thanks

Here's a bump, as like the other poster I was considering a C3 or a Team Camarillo...but I need something more with cutter type swells, but the "Balance" part of the BTR might help out immensely. Don't know anything about their gullet widths though...Martin did some really wide trees for a few years, and then they went back to "normal' sized gullets for the BTR. So I'd love to hear more too.

I tried the BTR as I had heard good things about how the stirrups hang. It was a nice fitting saddle for both me and my horse and did like the forward hang of the stirrups, but the cantle feels much lower than the one on my FX3 and and the Crown C so I always felt like if my horse really powered out of a barrel I would slip on the back end. I told my husband I would like a hybrid between the BTR and the FX3 so for now I will stay with what I have. The FX3 really holds you in as the pommels curve around.
FYI - for MT people - I was able to try one from Western Ranch Supply in Billings when I was at a race in Silesia. They do charge your credit card, but instantly refunded it when I took the saddle back the next day.

I won a Martin BTR, I rode old style ammermans for years. I do like my BTR I also have a Robbie Phillips that rides as well or better, forward hung sturrips. The Martin is heavier Leather will last longer but is pretty heavy, The Phillips is lighter and MUCH less expensive.
