Location: East Texas | The mask thread got me to thinking and so many products are gimmicks. What products do you use that actually work and you can verify? Not my horse looks better or he seems to feel better, but actual proof.
For ex. We have a horse that will not drink on the road sometimes. We use a filter called the horse hydrator and he will drink every time. I put two buckets in his stall....one run through the filter and one without. He only drank out of the one that was run through the filter. I don't know what is in it, but if it gets my horse to drink I am all for it. |

Location: Oklahoma | I feed Adeptus Nutrition Augment as a multi vitamin/mineral supplement. My horse gets 1 scoop am/pm along with 1 scoop am/pm of alfalfa pellets. No hay yet, just pasture. Top picture is August 6, just 3 days into starting this augment. Bottom picture is September 12. She's gained weight and it doesn't make her hot. The Adeptus products are fantastic. They make one called Gleam and Gain. They have 2 formulas. Original 41 (41% crude fat) and 60 (60% crude fat). I have had great luck with senior horses that need weight without packing them full of feed. When I worked at the tack store the founder of Adeptus came and trained us on the products, so I have had first hand knowledge of them.
I also feed Mushroom Matrix ECP (calming/focus) and MRM (injury/recovery). These are all organic mushroom blends. Many of the olympic horses are on ECP especially the dressage horses. My stallion was on ECP during breeding season and it really allowed him to focus and work even around the mares. Made his training sessions go great. And also being organic and mushrooms, it's fully legal. This is also a company I've worked with the founder and had my product knowledge training directly from.
I am not one to push supplements, but these are the only 2 companies I will feed to my horses. |

Location: Smack Dab in the Middle | I'm using a new to the horse market probiotic that is doing wonders for one of my horses. He has a mystery something going on in his gut and had to be on antibiotics and steroids, along with omeprazole to even get him to eat, none-the-less maintain any sort of body condition. This set of products has now had him off all medicines for almost a full year now. Not saying he won't have to have them again, but so far he's maintaining and running well. So I guess that's a "my horse looks and feels better"...but keeping him off the meds sells it for me. |

| I second Horse Hydrator. We actually run our well water through one because otherwise it smells.
I also like Draw It Out liniment, especially for bug bites or hives. It'll draw them down very quickly.
This may be premature, but TLC Equi-bone. Hopefully, I can update with x-ray proof in a couple months. I do think it has really helped my mare.

Location: North Dakota | Uckele LUNG has done wonders for my gelding with upper respiratory issues. We usually treat him with dex and antibiotics 3-4 times per year-use ventipulmin when he's really bad-even made a nebulizer for him. I started him on the LUNG around the first of the year and we have not treated him at all! We even had a desperately dry summer and he's been fine-last year and this time he couldn't come in the barn without coughing. (I'm also sold on the Uckele GUT but have a really tough case of ulcer prevenetion going on-it has completely stopped ALL of the issues with this horse but most)
Pluse I love the hay chix hay net-what a saving grace to not waste hay! I wish I would have bought one years ago!

I totally agree about the filtered water. I have horse that will drink the filtered water anytime its offered and turn up their nose at unfiltered water.
I use an RV Filter from Walmart. It's the same, good quality filter as HH but about $8 cheaper. Usually they are even a little cheaper in a twin pack. |

I love the RV filters from WM, I keep my horses at a training stable and the water is soooo nasty you can smell it when you fill the buckets. I go thru one filter every 10 days or so because they clog up so fast, thankful for WM and Amazon! |

Great tip about the WM filters! I don’t use one and typically have good drinkers but I’ve thought about throwing a filter in the trailer just in case we go somewhere that it’s really nasty. I usually also haul a 35 gallon tank of water from home - but if we were gone over more than a couple days that would be gone pretty quick.
I try really hard to find a happy balance between letting the horse be a horse and keeping him feeling his best. I have borrowed a friends BOT leg gear and I see good results, my plan is to start my own collection. |

Also I really like Sore No More poultice, Equipride, alfalfa, and rice bran. I've seen Adequan do good things, OsPhos.

Location: Texas | I second the Equi Bone. We had a horse with a fractured splint bone that had to be removed and a plate placed. He just wasn't 100% after that, and I thought he'd be in the 5% of horses who don't recover. I started the Equi Bone and in 2 months, he was 100% sound and feeling fine.
I also like the WM hose filters. I keep one in my LQ trailer.

| Haha LOVE this! I'll admit...I even feed quite a few supps that I couldn't even tell you if they REALLY work or not haha. BUT, I will for sure stand by FORCO, rice bran and DAC oil!! Those three are the only ones that I have tried by themselves, and seen a lot of result with =] The others I just kinda feed to make myself feel better =p |

| Sore no more performance liniment and BOT wraps... I use the BOT back brace on myself and works miracles on my lower back pain. I'm not sure why or how but it just does! My husband hurt his lower back and I put it on him for an hour and he was amazed at the difference. Love my BOT |

Location: Illinois | MVP Exceed 6-Way and Gastro-Plex. Proof of the Exceed came from my vet when he pulled the joint fluid out, it used to be very little, thin, and basically water consistency which is bad. He's been on various supplements for years, none improving his fluid. This year at age 18 after being on Exceed for just under a year, his fluid was perfect and there was more. My injections were also 15 months old and I usually can't make it a full year. My vet was seriously impressed and said he's going to start recommending it. Same horse also had gate issues for years, even tried to climb up onto the hood of a truck by the gate to get away, ran people over, cut/hurt himself, & took me straight out of the building twice. Nothing worked, $2,000 of omeprazole a year, OxyMax, SmartGut, Aloe Juice, Maalox, and about 5 others tried with no improvement at all. Gave him the Gastro-plex paste at a race a company rep was at and cut my gate issues in half. So I thought, so far thats the best result I've gotten in just under 5 years. So I got a week worth of omeprazole and gave that while starting the Gastro-Plex pellets and I have made it this whole year with no gate issues except one race, the place he used to take me out of the building. And all he did was stop short of the gate and stood like a statue for maybe 5 seconds and then rocketed off. So for me that is proof and with the reputation we had gotten from the gate, everyone has asked me all year and adding the 2 MVP supplements are the only things that have changed. I had 2 runs not get taped because my videographer wasn't prepared and had expected my usual 2-3 minute delay to get in.
Side note too, I think its hard to say the something is in FACT proven, because not every supplement, remedy, treatment, therapy, etc is going to work for every horse. The things that I've tried and didn't work might have worked a miracle on other horses. You have to find what works specifically for each particular horse. For me Exceed has shown me a difference in some way on 2/3 of my horses, the 3rd I just got and she's 3 so I don't expect to visually see a lot of difference in her. My 24 year old on it moves better, he doesn't act like he's got razor blades in his joints anymore. He actually runs a bit and plays with the younger ones. He's also on Gastro-plex and his cribbing has cut down considerably. So for me it's things like that, that makes me know things are working, especially when nothing else has changed |
