Isaiah 29:13 The Lord says, these people say they love me. They show honor to Me with words. But their hearts are far from Me.
The concept that love and obedience go hand in had is not easy to grasp. In the Old Testament, the Israelites got comfortable going through the outward forms of worship, observing the rituals, sacrifices, and feasts. Yet the failed to honor God in their daily lives even the prophet Samuel told them " To obey is better than sacrifice."
1 Samuel 15:22. The problem was still around its the New Testament times. Jesus quoted Isaiah 29:13 to the church leaders of His day Matthew 15:8-9. He told His followers, " If you love Me, show it by doing what I've told you " John 14:15.
We can slip into a habit of merely going through the motions without truly honoring Jesus in our hearts. In that case, Jesus may Hope for a repentant attitude and change behavior from us more than a love note. Ask Jesus to reveal any disobedience in your life that needs dealt with first. For it is WITh God all things are possible
