| Has anyone ever had trouble with a mare on regumate tying up? I have a 6 yo mare that I bought 3 mos ago.....the original owner had put her on a Canadian product (not called regumate, but similar) when she hauled her because she's mare-ish.....said she never had any trouble. I wasn't able to get that product in the states, but put her on regumate and she has was great.....within about a month she tied up occasionally, and now it's very often. I have taken all sugar away from her feed and put her on MVP In Sync pellets and a small amount of barley and rice bran to mix in the pellets. I am at wit's end.......! |

| My best horse stays on regumate year round other than me pulling her off to cycle occasionally and I have also used it on multiple other mares with no issues. This does not sound right...as far as the drug causing tying up |

| I'm having this problem at the moment with a mare. She was spayed due to ovary tumor last year and is one of the 20% that stay in season all the time when ovaries removed, they use mares like this at studs as jump mares. Anyway her dangerous behaviour towards people gone since the op, so the procedure has saved her life, she was dangerous. She's a trotting mare with ability, so was worth trying to save her, but hard to race her while in season all the time, so I decided to try her on regumate to kick her out of season. She was great to start with but now having problems with her tying up all the time. She used to tye up before the op, but hadn't at all post op until I decided to supplement her progesterone back in. Very interesting as it points to the fact that for her progesterone triggers her tying up and when she has none in her system because of being spayed she didn't tye up at all!! I'm really surprised at this, thought I would share. They are all different I guess. She's friendly when in season and grumpy when not in season, the complete opposite of most mares, so I guess I let her be a happy spayed mare and put up with the weeeing and squatting and Being affectionate when I put her bridle on, actually wanting cuddles to the point it's annoying, as opposed to her tying up and trying to bite my head of when I saddle her up when she has progesterone in her system lol. |

Location: in the ozone | Have used Regumate for many mares in past years and NEVER had one tie up. Sounds like you are dealing with something else causing that - most notably HYPP, PSSM1, or PSSM2 |

| I have a PSSM n/p1 mare that tyed up prior to proper management. She's on Regumate and has not tyed up. You may need to look further at diet/exercise, etc. |
