Wondering what Breathing supplements you all use on a daily bases and why?
We uses lunge Aid by choice of champions. but was wondering if there is anything a lil better.
We run on lasix and nebulize. But seem to have alot of dust at the farm. Always trying to help our fur babies anyway we can.
TIA....

Do you nebulize during the week? Like 2-3x will make a difference for you.

I really like Equipulmin. It works really well, but it's expensive for daily use.

So, I lean towards Air Power by Finish Line for an everyday use.

I do have my horse on an Rx antihistamine for allergies which has worked very well.

100% Cur-OST products.  I have used every respiratory supplement and aid out there at one point or another, including nebulizing several different things, and there is no comparison to what the Cur-OST program and a clean diet can do, even far beyond the respiratory issues.

What is forgotten with many issues is everything is a inflammatory response. From ulcers, to joint pain... to respiratory issues. Manage the inflammation (herbs and whole foods) and don't contribute to it (i.e high grain amounts) and you will in turn reduce the inflammatory response which will lead to less issues and a healthier horse.

Cur-OST is not a magic potion of things to "help respiratory issues", it goes beyond that. It is a collection of whole foods and herbs that returns the bodies inflammation to a healthy level. If you think through the processes of how we get where we are in these issues.. Cur-OST just plain makes sense.

Did you notice any weight loss after starting Air Power?

I'm 3 weeks in and have taken my girth up 2 holes on my gelding. I would say he's lost approx 50 pounds. I'm weaning him off of it now. It did help with his respiratory issues, but it is the only thing that has changed in his routine. He's eating the exact same amount of the exact same diet. I'm actually exercising him less because I wanted to give him a chance to heal. Just curious your experience.

I use Air Power because you don't have to give much. I usually only use it before riding in an indoor arena or if he's having a flare up.

No, I didn't notice a change in weight at all. That's interesting. I am not sure what the correlation would be? Unless maybe there is an underlying gut issue that's only showing up in weight loss?

I love the ForeFront Equine! I have a COPD Mare that was on all kinds of meds OTC and prescribed! Found out some of them contained harmful ingredients. Took her off of everything put her on ForeFront and she is running 1.5 seconds faster. Loved it so much I became a dealer

I recently had post about buying a horse with tie back surgery. I hauled him to a large weekend barrel race this weekend. I talked with multiple vendors about breathing supplements. There was only one lady that offered me a sample to try before making my second run. She said now don’t expect a miracle but just see if you notice any different since it is a liquid you can give daily, three days out or 2 hours out according to how your horse responds to it. I gave it to him 2 or 3 hours before I run, when I warmed him up he just had that extra bounce in his step and only coughed twice. He usually coughs multiple times until to get really warmed up and gets the Mucus out. He went in and ran half second faster with lots of rider errors. I was impressed and went and bought a container of it. It is called wind aid by Hawthorne products. It is very cheap compared to others so it is worth a try. It was $3 for one dose but cheaper in bulk.

Not saying that your testimony doesn't have enough clout to stand alone, but just wanted to mention that both Tiany and Stevi Hillman use this product too. Must be good stuff!

Wind Aid has been around forever...I remember giving it to my horse as a kid 15-20 years ago!!
My mom was always a believer in it, and I had an uncle who used it himself LOL.

After years of not thinking about it, I saw a video where Tiany talked about using it...went and bought a bottle for my two guys.

Not to steal the thread but what is your routine with wind aid? The Lady I bought it from suggested for my horse to give a dose the day before the show and then two hours before I run since I seen improvement quickly with the first dose.

EquiPulmin is amazing! And depending on your horse's symptoms you can set up a dosage regimen that works for you. I literally tried every respiratory/inflammation product on the market and this isvthe only product that took away the lingering cough of 2 years. All natural and can be given with a dosing syringe. Mine will lick it out of the bottom of the bucket.

Rosemary, Honey, Witch Hazel, Fenugreek Seed, Black Seed, Damiana Leaves, Marshmallow, Sage, Juniper Berries, Chamomile Flowers, Cloves, Spearmint, Cinnamon, Thyme, Potassium Sorbate.

Stevi Hillman is a big proponent of it. Many of the top girls who came to the northwest this fall when the fire season was so bad put their horses on it to help them breathe more easily with all the smoke in the air. https://www.equipulmin.com/product-page/equipulmin

I'm going to be the odd person out on the Equipulmin here. I will tell you my experience with 2 horses. I've used it religiously for a year and a half now. I'm finally almost done with my last gallon.
I was told originally it helps bleeders/allergies, in which it DID at first with my one horse. But I can't give it 3 times a day due to my busy work schedule either..so I gave it once a day for a couple weeks at 120ccs. Then about an hour or so before I ran. No coughs.
About half way or more through our hauling season it seemed as if it literally quit working? I gave 120ccs starting on a Thur and all through the weekend I ran. My one vet some horses can get immune to all these herbs. I'm not sure. But at $150-160/gallon I think I'm going to invest in an Equi Resp along with another coughing ailment maybe WindAid. And yes I do run on Lasix now since the Equipulmin definetly did not prevent bleeding

I use the LCR and Respiratory from Silver Lining Herbs religiously for my bleeder and my "heevy" horse.  I also nebulize before I run and I pre race paste with Oxygen O2.  Seems to do the trick.  The "heevy" horse is a calf horse so he gets Respiratory daily plus he gets Doterra oil mixture before he competes and gets nebulized as well during the strenuous season.  (Smoke, dust etc)

Mine is a bad bleeder (last fall was bleeding through 5cc of lasix). I have her now on Bleeder Stop by Oxygen (been thinking of switching to Race Today by Vetline Equine) I love the Bleeder Stop but still feel like we need a little help. I also have her on Respiratory Support from Simply Equine (I sent in a hair analysis and she suggested some things) to help her out.

I also give electrolytes 2 days before running, and the day(s) I run her, and the day after (if it's a big show two days after). I also give Wind Aide a few days before and the day I run. I also recently started running her with flair strips and have noticed a difference.

For every day use due to dust in/around the barn, if you have an arena at home and rely on rain and haven't had any in a while, contact your local volunteer fire department. Some for a donation may come water your arena for you...if not you can water down around you. I have also used vicks around the nostril (not inside cause they do NOT like it lol) and it will open the airways too.

Meh... They claim you can use it instead of Lasix... Do they actually have case studies to prove this? That's a pretty bold statement to make otherwise.
