Location: Hill Country of TEXAS!! | Soo... Which one is the better choice? I currently feed Omnis and my horses look great. I feed 6 qrts 2x a day and they are on a nice coastal 5x5 round bale 24/7. I do not currently feed any suppliments.
Here are my questions. Is HayRite dusty?? Is it ever not bright green? How hard is it?
If you feed hayrite cubes or pellets, How much do you feed a horse and what else do you add with it?
Ive seen people post they only feed cubes and my horses would drop weight so i leave them on a round bale.
Opinions on both are welcome. Im trying to get the best of the best ;) |

| I have fed Omnis but they are very hard to get in my area so I went to baled alfalfa. I bought a bag of the Hayrite mini cubes today and they are hard as a rock, slick and shiny, nothing like the soft Omnis cubes. I gave them some this evening and they seemed to love them though. I do not like how hard they are so I added some water and my horses won’t touch them soaked, I am concerned about choking.

Mine eat them both wet and dry. But I just pour some water on them as I give it to them. I don’t “soak” them first. I feed Renew Gold and coastal hay. I give 2-3 pounds of the cubes morning and night. No supplements. All fat including 21 year old. |

Hayride or omni? Omnis has oats and flax seed in them and can be broken with your fingers.
Does hayride cube have oats in them as well? They look like they are hard like a normal alfalfa cube?

Hay Rite Alfalfa/Oat cubes have oat hay, not oats. I'm not crazy about Hay Rite cubes because they are hard as rocks, as someone already said. I do, however, love their complete equine and performance equine pellets. |

Yep, thats what i thought. Its oat hay, not actual oats. Well, I was just curious if what i thought was true about hayrite and so far it is. Thanks for everyones answers! |

| When I moved south I accidently bought hay rite and I could barely stomach to feed the rest of the bag. It was like my horses were eating blocks of cement. To me, thst isn't enjoyable and painful for their jaws. |

you have been telling us for 2 years how awesome Danco was. Now they are not awesome?
How can these be the best cubes in the universe if Danco is the best in the universe?

Location: Deep South | I cannot get Omnis in my area, so I can't compare the 2, only tell you my experience with HayRite.
HayRite cubes are very very hard. When I pour them from the bag into a bucket they make me cough, every time. However, we fed them at the barn I worked for to over 70 head of horses, we never soaked them and never had an issue with choke. |

I feed Hay Rite Mini Cubes and Hay Rite Complete pellets to 5 horses. Even my 26 year old mare has no problems eating the cubes. I once got the regular cubes by acciden and those are not good - too big and hard.
They also get coastal hay and Forco. I like this feeding program. Everyone is kinda round, and I dont feed much. |

I have the same feeding program. I added a little water as they were eating the cubes and as soon as they started to break down and soften they quit eating them. I do have a source for great baled alfalfa so guess I will stick with baled, cubes sure are easy though, I just hate how hard hay-rites are. |

Standlee is also the only thing I can get too besides some off brands. I feed the alfalfa pellets, soaked due to her allergy issues with hay. She'll choke on air so that's why I do pellets not cubes. (insert eye roll) She does very well on them along with Renew Gold and oats.

I like Omnis but a 50 mile round trip to get them is just not in the picture. Tried Hayrite but they were harder than rocks. I do break up his cubes before feeding them to avoid any choking issues. Wetting them is not an option as he will eat nothing that has water on it. Edited to add that he does well on them along with his regular feed. If you are going to use Standlee, go on their website and sign up for coupons. I can almost always get $2 or $2.50 off per bag with their coupons.

Location: In the Hills of Texas | I've been feeding the Danco cubes since they came out and in the last few months I've had problems with getting them and they were not the same good quality as they were in the beginning. They were dusty and didn't have any smell to them. My horse started leaving more and more of them. The company did replace some of the bags and the new bags were good.
I'm ready to try something that I don't have to travel so far to get. I tried the mini Hayrite cubes and they are very hard, slick and shiny and my horse struggled eating them. I'm ready to try something different and I will be trying Trey Dove's new cubes as they seem to fit what I'm looking for. Feeds are always revolving and for me, Trey has just done that.

Try the ones with oat hay added. They are much softer. I got a few bags when they were out of the regular alfalfa mini cubes. My horses love them and clean up every last bit. Even the two pasture ornaments that are out 24/7. While the regular mini cube is harder I can still break them up with my arthritic hands. They always smell fresh too. Have heard of some blister beetle cases from the Standlee cubes so I won't be trying those. |
