We currently have a 3 horse gooseneck that we really enjoy, however, we're about to purchase a new stock trailer. It will be used to haul cattle and horses when my husband goes to rope. He has to pick and choose what horses to bring currently with the 3 horse, and if I want to tag along he can only bring 2. So 24' stock trailer it is, it's needed for the cattle and will be useful for the horses also.
Anyway, he suggested trading in my 3 horse for a 2 horse bumper pull that his 1/2 ton truck can pull around easily if and when we have separate events to go to. The smaller truck can pull the gooseneck, but not far from home bc it does strain it a bit.
Any suggestions on bumperpull models/brands? I want lightweight, decent quality. I've looked at a couple dealerships and may be willing to go new, but certainly open to used. Absolute max $20,000, would prefer less. I want a back tack, I see many have a full back door, I assume bc they're more narrow-something in a wider option would be nice. Also taller is better, at minimum 7', but mine is 7' 6" and I love it for my taller horses. In hot humid LA, so plenty of airflow...
Or tell me I'm crazy and to keep the gooseneck HAHA!! |

| Keep your gooseneck or trade for a smaller one A GN is easier on your truck than a bumper pull IMHO. Last bumper pull I pulled was with a skidsteer on it and it OWNED my one ton truck. |

Location: midwest mama | I have a little 2 horse Trails West bumper pull that I wouldn't trade for anything. It is my little run around trailer for when I don't want to drag around my big LQ trailer. Love it! |

| I don't think I would want to go back to a bumper pull after I've pulled a gooseneck for so long, I think I'd look for a small gooseneck if it was me.

Location: Southeast Louisiana | I like a little bumper pull. I think it's a good idea. It's just personal preference, really. With a bumper pull, you can do more with your truck's bed space, or pull it with a SUV or motor home if your vehicle situation changes in the future. Wish I could recommend a brand. I'd just look for something with an insulated roof and larger drop down windows on both sides. Personally, I don't like stock sides because of all the rain we have to deal with. But, again, it's just personal preference. |

Location: North Dakota | I would not go back to a bumper pull now that I have a GN. But since you asked about BP I used to have a Titan Challenger 3 horse BP that was great. It had a dressing room/tack in front that had room to store hay and a water tank. Mine also had a door going from tack to horse area. |

Location: Oklahoma | I have an older WW single axle trailer that is the absolute best thing! It is a straight load though and I know some do not like those. I rodeod pretty hard with it the last 2 years and have had no issues. I have hauled it with our 1/2 Ford and had no issues there either.
I think it is a good move, just make sure you have a good area for tack. |

It seems people really like the Titan brand. I don't see a ton around here to have an opinion.
As far as getting a smaller gooseneck... I'd have to downsize to a 2 horse to do that, and the idea of being able to use an SUV makes a 2 horse bumper pull more attractive than a 2 horse gooseneck. As I'm also currenlty car/SUV shopping, my 11yo Camry is nearing the end LOL.

| I down sized from a full living quarters slide gooseneck to a three horse Adams bumper pull. We decided to switch from living quarters to a 40 foot RV.I really like the quality of the Adams brand. It is nice to be able to take the RV and trailer to larger shows then just the truck and trailer to small shows with less parking. |

Thanks! We have agreed that we don't need LQ at all. Over the years there hasn't been one place we've hauled that didn't have a hotel less than 5 miles away, typically closer than that. And my gooseneck literally has like 2 chairs up top bc I hate crawling up there, so we don't "need" or utilize that space.
I'll check out the Adam also! |

I had a 2 horse titan bumper pull and I really liked it, very well made, probably the best steel trailer on the market. Trails West is another good one - I think they may be aluminum skin over steel frame.
It’s all about what works for you and your preferences. As far an SUV goes, full size (Yukon, Tahoe etc) is the only thing I’d pull a trailer with. They are built on 1/2t frames. |

Location: Aggieland | I have a two horse titan bumper pull and I love it, huge tack room and swing out saddle rack. Only thing I wish I had was two doors on the back instead of one but I'm pretty sure you can get some like that. We pull with a 04 Tahoe and it pulls great. Edit to add like OhMax said they are very well made, mines a 2010 and it has very minimal rust for a steel trailer
