What is a good age to start promoting a stallion? I am breaking him now, and he is being way too easy... It would be very limited until he was starting to perform well. I have seen advertisments for ones as young as yearlings, but most seem to stary 2/3yo years.

I think it depends on who your target market is. In order to effectively pull from the national market you need to have a solid performance record and/or produce record. Sometimes the local market is simpler and they will usually overlook some of the records for convenience. You will be able to penetrate local markets sooner assuming you have a quality product. If he is truly stallion quality, the sooner the better but start local and then advance to the national markets as he earns his keep.

Not looking at national as of yet. He has proven parents & siblings, some nationally the others regionally.
Really wanting to get an idea of what common practices were. I saw one advertised as a yearling a few days ago (WAY to young IMO).

A yearling now will be a two year old when breeding season rolls around. There are a lot of young horses that owners try to get babies out there for futurities. That way the horse becomes better known for being a producer at a younger age. If you breed a two year old, he will be at least 6 before any of his offspring hit the futurity world. If no one futurities the offspring the horse will be 10 or older before his offspring are recognizable.
