I think in our future, sadly, this will become our "new normal" .... Instead of guns, ISIS is promoting the idea that "homegrown" terrorists (in all countries) use vehicles to hit and kill as many as possible.

Its the underground Goverment still trying to get the public so enraged so they can take our guns from us. Watch the politicions say we need more gun laws. You want to stop this. Make everyone carry a gun. Look at Israel. Everybody is trained and carrys.  The only reason it happens here is the bad guys have the advantage. Shooting fish in a bowl.

True....apparently, he had a paintball gun and a pellet gun....IMO, it was his suicide by cop scenario......thinking that they would shoot and kill him!

If these vehicle attacks continue, just stop for a minute and imagine.
Anywhere you have crowds of people or crowded sidewalks will be vulnerable. They will put up barricades here and there, but there's no way of stopping them. Clearly all this news is just going to inspire copycat aspiring terrorists. This attack is nothing compared to what happened in Nice, France last year during Bastile day. That bastard killed about 90 and injured a couple hundred more with a truck.

One could argue that the current gun laws are sufficient since he did not use a gun, he was carrying a pellet and paint gun.

lttllace - 2017-11-01 8:23 AM So funny how people grab one quote from DT's twitter (that he got from Fox news this morning) and run with it. I would encourage you to do a little research to understand all of the facts, who all wrote and passed the bill, and the circumstances around it. Maybe, just maybe, we should be working together to prevent another attack instead of politicizing what happened, and think about the victims and their families. Just a thought. . . . Cheers!

It's not easy to work around the open borders policies of past decades.

Just like the respect given the victims of Las Vegas, the call  for more gun control laws started the very same day. Neither “side” can claim they give respect and do not politicize a situation, give me a break. No media “reports new” they all spin and promote their agenda. Morning Joe  said Trumps tweet calling for more vetting is Trump saying all our problems are caused by  by immigrants -Trump said no such thing, he did not even imply it, MSNBC spreads more lies, hate and division then the best out there.

Under the program, the State Department offers 50,000 visas to each year to immigrants from parts of the world with relatively low immigration rates over the previous five years. Most visas go to people from African nations, as The Washington Post has reported.

To qualify, applicants must have a high school education or two years in an occupation in that requires formal training. Those who meet eligibility requirements are selected at random from a computer lottery. The State Department refers to them as “diversity immigrants.”

The program did originate in part in a bill introduced in 1990 by Schumer, who was then a member of the House. For the past decade or so, political leaders have debated whether to keep issuing diversity visas.

WHY are we always SO intent on jumping on the first band wagon that rolls along.....and continually trying to point fingers at the other party and divide the country more????? The post above PROVES that it was NOT just a Democratic bill but sponsored and helped to pass by MANY Republicans .....

So I just watched a 45 minute news conference on the NYC terror attack. Governor Cuomo repeatedly said how this is not the time to "politicize" the issue.

Then he proceeded to politicize the issue by harshly criticizing Trump's tweets. He further went on to talk about how this is the time to finally consider some real sensible gun control. How did he go from vehicular mass murder to gun control? Does this mean we need to start "common sense" gun control of pellet guns and paintball guns? This incident just serves as an example of how gun control would not hamper the bad guys.

Trump's criticism of this lottery to award visas for "diversity" is entirely appropriate at this time, in my opinion. Since when have we needed to randomly award visas for the purposes of "diversity"?
The world is boiling in blood and we have to do this? Why is this necessary? Why, after 228 years do we all of a sudden need this bullsh!t program? Whatever happened to the view that we are a vast melting pot?

As a person who used to live in NY (not in the city) and has family in NYC i can tell you NYC is their own little world. And thats not trying to be mean as i do love my family. But when we spoke to family last night after the attack we were told that they werent believing everything written and we shouldnt jump to conclusions about it being a terrorist. Now they may have been in shock but when i sent them the released name they didnt even acknowledge.
They are strong and still went on with halloween festivites but the reason DeBlasio is still mayor is because of alot of like minded people.

Why, after 228 years do we all of a sudden need this bullsh!t program? Whatever happened to the view that we are a vast melting pot?

they just just can’t help themselves.   It is such a fallacy that one party is more caring them the other.

Thank you Bear...you are right! People like the Governor, and those with his same mindset, have no common sense. They want to concentrate and blame the means by which these “Crazies” are killing multiples of people. I guess it never occurs to them that the emphasis needs to be on people like the Crazies and those who have their same mindset. I realize that we will never be able to keep all those who hate Americans off our soil, and that there are plenty of people born and raised here that are just as evil, but trying to put more control on guns, knives, vehicles, poisons, box cutters, airplanes and anything else that could kill, is a waste of time, money and energy. It is our political correctness and fear of hurting someone’s feelings that will be the downfall of our great Nation!

Yes but still toning it down by not using the actual Arabic phrase.   Why change it?

When I got the stomach to turn to MSNBC this morning they were still totally glued to Russia Russia Russia and their nightmare fairy tales.  The New York incident was simply a crawl on the bottom of the screen.

This is not a new "law"....it was signed into law in 1990 by GHW Bush. They have had twenty seven years to change this part of the immigration law.  I do take issue with Trump jumping on Schumer since that part (diversity visas) of the bill was sponsored by several including MANY Republicans ..... Just another "tweet" to try to divide the country!

This country is do divided that I would bet we will see a civil war before we ever see it unite.

When I was growing up...there was very little difference between the Republican and Democratic party...Now we have a party that wants little government and still believes in Capitalism and making big money is pretty awesome.

The Democratic party wants to be able to tell us when we can go to the bathroom. Capitalism and rich people are evil and some think the government should take care of them.

You don’t like capitalism and the ability to achieve? What is the alternative to capitalism?

I think a lot of us out here like the fact that Trump doesn't give a sh!t about political correctness. He pointed out that the "diversity visa" lottery was a bad idea in the first place and favors a merit-based system, rather than a random lottery. I think an awful lot of people agree with him. My point in the earlier post was that why did we decide, after over two centuries, that we needed a "diversity visa" lottery to begin with? Isn't normal immigration a diversifying process in the first place? Merit based immigration and diversity are not mutually exclusive.
I think it's nearly impossible to eliminate comments that have political overtones in situations like this, regardless of what the politicians may say. In the aftermath of the Vegas massacre, the news was still evolving, yet the anti gun politicians were clammoring
for stricter gun controls. Now, the day after yesterday's attack, the president is lamenting on how we need more extreme vetting and merit based immigration....not a lottery.

There are worse things I guess. Actually, in today's world, the way things are going, and terrorism continuing, I wouldn't be surprised to see that seriously entertained at some point in the future.
I have a hard time imagining it, particularly given our open borders with Canada and Mexico, the the politics of illegal immigration as they are.

As we all know Democrats love immigrants for the simple reason that generally immigrants love "free stuff" and Dems love to hand our tax dollars over to them, so naturally they will vote their way.  Remember Obama's "catch and release" policy.  Hundreds of MS-13 gang members crossed our southern border.  Border patrol warned the administration......they didn't listen.  They're here and now this administration has to contend with them.
