Location: Northern CA | Looking for a good facial cleanser and moisturizer. I still break out like a teenager, but the skin under my eyes is showing my age and I need a good exfoiliator. What is everyone using? Looking for real experience with different products, not the pyramid/group/autoship schemes. Thanks. |

| I have been using Proactiv for almost 10 years. I have quit a couple times and always gone back. It is auto ship, but you control when they send it. It works great for breakouts, without drying out your skin.
I am also a HUGE fan of BareMinerals makeup and moisturizer products. The combo of Proactiv and BareMinerals has worked great for me. I'll add I am a fair skinned red head. |

I love their microdermabrasion paste too. Yes it’s expensive but it lasts me forever and works. I don’t sell it so it’s not a sales pitch I do really love it! |

Location: California | I really like my Biore baking soda face wash. Baking soda can act as a exfoliant without being harsh on your skin. If you need a more serious scrub, you can always make one with sugar, honey and lemon. I've used Proactive, and a ton of other things and they didn't work. I started to make my own stuff, and that has worked the best for me. I also use coconut oil at night. The only reason I don't wear coconut oil during the day is because it melts my makeup off lol.
Also my clarasonic has made a HUGE difference. I'm sure there are about a million other cheaper options that will work as well. |

I really like the clearasil (sp?) products, not too expensive and truly work if you wash your face twice a day. I wash mine every morning when I get up, and every evening right before bed and put on my Pond's facial lotion |

Location: North Dakota | I have very dry skin BUT I'm also extremely acne prone (I get comedogenic breakouts, so cannot use ANY oils on my face) so the products I'm going to recommend have been very effective but also gentle.
Cleanser: Mary Kay clear proof and Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser
The Mary Kay Clear Proof has salisylic acid so is very good at keeping acne at bay without being too harsh. It is a bit drying for me to use all the time though, so I use it once a day and the Vanicream the other time. Vanicream is super cheap and readily available at stores like target. It is SUPER gentle but won't clog your pores.
Toner: Mary Kay Clear Proof and Dickinson's witch hazel (plain/unscented)
Again, using just the Mary Kay is too drying for my already dry skin, but it is very effective. If my acne is going through a rough patch, I use that at night and the witch hazel in the morning. Otherwise, I use witch hazel exclusively.
Moisturizer: First Aid Beauty Ultra repair moisturizer
I use the regular one at night and SPF one in the morning. This is the BEST moisturizer EVER. It is the only one that really hydrates my skin and keeps it soft, but does not make it greasy and does not cause breakouts. If you have really oily skin, you might prefer the Mary Kay Clear Proof moisturizer. It is very light but definitely gets the job done.
Exfoliation: Peter Thomas Roth Firm X Peeling Gel and Foreo Luna Play
Both of these are splurges but 110% worth it. First of all, I think ANYTHING from Peter Thomas Roth is worth trying. But their Firm X peeling gel is amazing. It is not a scrubby bead exfoliator, but a chemical exfoliator. After you wash and pat dry your face, just a small dime size dollop is all you need to spread it all over your face and immediately the dead skin starts pilling up. It is SO satisfying. It does NOT sting or feel tight in any way. After you rinse that off, you are left with soft glowing healthy skin. You only have to do this once or twice a week, so a bottle will last FOREVER. I HIGHLY recommend this. The Foreo Luna is a vibrating silicone face brush that is amazing at getting the most out of your cleanser. I've noticed a huge difference since I started using it. It's also better than a clarisonic because you don't have to replace brush heads, it is silicone so no worry of bacterial buildup, and it is gentler--so it won't contribute to any wrinkles. There is a cheap copy on amazon that I've heard good things about.
A few tips...salisylic acid is great for acne but over time it can cause thinning of skin, so never use it near your eyes or under eyes and use it as sparingly as possible. To help with wrinkles, especially under the eye, hydration is key. Even if you don't use the first aid beauty moisturizer, I still recommend an under eye cream fro them. Make sure you never rub your eyes, pat it on only. Also always wearing SPF is a must.
I am am obsessed with this stuff...I could go on for hours.... |

Location: Southern Indiana | My favorite cleanser is Kiehls ultra. Dry, oily, broke out its good. I also like their moisturizers. The panthenol protein is my favorite especially for winter. $20 for cleanser seems pricey but it lasts forever and they have 20% off sales and I stock up.
I also really like Paula's choice stuff. I would try the BHA if I was you. It's a gentle daily exfoliated and will help dry up and breakouts. The resist serum w/ retinol is my favorite. They have tons of helpful articles and reviews (even on about ever skincare product on the market). |

Location: Louisiana | My routine for the past couple months that's cleared my skin up, made it less oily, less red, and overall healthier-looking...
Starting at my night routine lol...
Use a makeup wipe to take off my cake-face, I wear full coverage makeup every single day, I like to be glam lol.
In the shower I use Nutragena "oil free acne wash", let it sit while I scrub in my shampoo, then rinse it off.
After my shower, I use Pearlessence "rose water" face mist, then Valjean Labs "Hydrate" serum with Hyaluranic acid and Vit B5.
I use an old tube of Aloette under eye gel, and a moisturizing cream about every other day or so. The mist and serum are both fairly moisturizing but sometimes my skin just needs a little extra.
Bedtime.
In the morning I simply wipe my face with a hot towel. Apply the serum again. Makeup, and I set my makeup with the Rose Water.
And wash it all off at night and start over LOL.
The Nutragena is cheap, $5-6 at walmart. The mist and serum I found at TJ Maxx for $6 each, but both are on amazon.
I don't spend a lot of money, I think the key is actually using the products. I used to be HORRIBLE, and barely took care of my skin. And it showed, it was always oily, always red, and I always had breakouts. Now, any breakouts heal up very fast, and my skin is hardly oily at all, but not dry either.
Another thing...I drink a ton of water now. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | I second Rodan & Fields. I'm 44...I spend time in the wind and sun a lot like most horse folks. Just not good for your skin. I'm a cheapskate when it comes to most things and a skeptic. I hardly wear makeup and don't color my hair etc. But I do splurge on this stuff. It has made a big difference! I had bad discoloration around my eyes and would get blotches on my forehead...wrinkles under eyes and yet I would break out too.
I use the Reverse and the Redefine kits. The Redefine is what I started with and it stopped the break outs and really made my skin look better overall. Really like the mask/cleanser and still buy it. But I wanted to do something about the dark areas and freckles/spots. So I started using the Redefine Lightening regimen. THAT stuff is fantastic. No more reverse raccoon eyes and no blotches on my forehead. My freckles have really mostly gone away and I have just enough to like them now. Just overall very impressed with this stuff. Nothing else I have used really made any noticeable difference.
I do NOT sell the stuff. And normally don't even try stuff like this. But a friend had good results so I just decided with the money back guarantee I would give it a go. No regrets...and I keep buying it. the kit does last me a long time. The scrub/cleanser just makes my skin soft and I am thrilled not to have break outs.

I have super oily skin and this DOES NOT make my skin oily. https://www.amazon.com/Palmers-Cocoa-Butter-Therapy-Cleansing/dp/B00W2CTHT4
At night, I just put on a night moisturizer. I buy all kinds of them. I just pick one.

Location: North Dakota | I've tried A LOT of products over the years and prefer Younique; it works on my skin (I'm 43). I use the pore purifying cleanser with either the Hydrating Day cream on extra dry days or just the daily moisturizer. I tend to breakout if I use anything else. We have some super awesome exfoliating products and masks, as well as some serums, which are made to use under your eyes. I do sell it, because I absolutly LOVE the product, but I promise you there is no autoship, you don't have to sign up as a presenter, etc., just order your product and off you go. It ships super fast and if your not satisfied we have a 14 day money back guarantee. PM me if your interested and I'll get you a link to my site.

| I’m in the same boat as you. Still get pesky breakouts even though I’m way past teenage years! I’ve had good luck with the Biore charcoal soap and I use apple cider vinegar as a toner. I’ve been trying to go with the less is more with my self care. Trying to stick with more natural routine. Baking soda is a great natural cleaner and exfoliant. I use that every other day too. I use pure rosehip oil for my moisturizer my skin has never looked better. |

Location: WI | I never had acne until by late 20's. I went to a dermatologist and she prescribed Epiduo gel. I only use a tiny bit on the problem areas as needed. Per her instruction, I wash with Cetaphil 2x/day. They also make a moisturizer, but I still have a bottle of Aveda face lotion I'm trying to use up (only needed in the winter).
I just got some dr. brandt exfoliator in a subscription box and I love it! I haven't used many though to compare it. |

Totally off topic but I have missed you posting simply because of your profile pictures..MEOW!....LOL!
To the OP, I think what exfoliator you choose is really going to depend on your skin type....I can't do any of the harsher ones like St. Ives my skin is so sensitive, the chunks in the exfoliator causes too much aggravation.
I just use the garnier micellar water as a cleanser and for moisturizer I love love love Kiss my Face Face Factor. It's marketed as a sunscreen but I find it moisturizing and it goes on nice and matte (I have really oily skin and this is the only kind that doesn't make me a greaseball by noon). Better than ANY other moisturizer I have tried plus the SPF is high (50) so will prevent further aging, if that is your concern |

I am using the unblemish and some days I like it and then I still get breakouts and think why I am paying $170 for this?? I thought about switching to Redefine but then thought well it said to used Unblemish if you have breakouts....So, I wasn't sure what to use. I have been using it for about 6 months. I use step 1, 2 and 3 on a regular basis. I haven't always used the moisturizer much. My skin tends to be more on the oily side.

| I ended up having to see a dermatologist for my face. I have very sensitive skin and also take immune suppressing drugs for Crohn's disease. I used to buyArbonne and loved until I could not tolerate a lot of chemicals anymore which a lot of companies use in their products. I now use La Roche Posay Toleriane line. Recommended by my dermatologist. It has helped a lot! It is an expensive line for an "off the shelf" brand but less expensive than ones you order through reps who sell. My dermatologist also sells it. It is made in France. You can get thru Amazon as well. |

| A bit off topic but seeing a hormone specialist has totally changed my skin. About seven years ago I started getting bad breakouts cystic acne especially on my chin and jawline. I saw a hormone specialist about four months ago. My estrogen was extremely high and progesterone and testosterone were almost zero. After using some supplements and bio-identical hormones my skin is almost completely cleared up. I still get a blemish or two at a certain time in my cycle but 95% of my acne is gone and I’ve lost about ten pounds. No matter what I used on my skin it barely made a difference but this has fixed the underlying problem for me. Just an idea I’m sure not right for everyone but I thought I’d throw it out there. |

May I ask, and I'm sorry it's probably rude, but what is your age? I feel like I have hormone imbalance but I just keep getting told I'm too young. I'm in my 30s but I show a lot of symptoms of someone with too high estrogen. I too have cystic acne. I switched to the lowest dose of estrogen BC there is and it helped but I still get some |

I did it for about 6 months. I have several friends who are consultants. One is "big" into it and she uses all the products and looks great. I could not tell that it did 'amazing' things for me -- I think it just depends on the individual --plus doing all of the regimen was very time-consuming for me and I have become very worn down / tired of all the social media hype/constant sales postings, etc. :) I prefer something simpler -- i.e. a serum and day cream and a night cream (the Boots 7 Lift and Luminate that I usually buy on Amazon in a package for the three items). I also like a good cleanser and exfoliator -- for that I use Serious Skin Care's Glycolic cleanser and their Serious C3 Plasma 3-in-in exfoliator cleanser (that I order from HSN) that I keep in the shower..... I think the bottom line is using sunscreen!!!! If you do not do anything else, do that and wear a hat. I really think that's what has saved my face.....
There is no doubt that Rodan + Fields is a truly excellent product and I'd certainly give it six months! In my opinion you have to find what works for your skin and is within your budget. There are great products out there that are not expensive -- for example, Olay Regenerist is terrific and I have used it, too, with very good results. It has shown results that have beaten out creams costing upwards of $400. |

I went to my chiro who is also a nutritionist who filled me in on it. BC can throw you into menopause. So you may want to reconsider your method to something that is not a hormonal control.
With in 2 weeks of coming off the pill, my mood swings started settling.
I am now approaching 50 and started my real menopause about a year ago.

I just started 3 weeks ago, it's very expensive and I will stick with it for 6 months and go to something else if I'm not happy. Also, do you use the whole Boots skincare line? I've never heard of it til you posted. Thanks! : ) I prefer something simpler -- i.e. a serum and day cream and a night cream (the Boots 7 Lift and Luminate that I usually buy on Amazon in a package for the three items ). I also like a good cleanser and exfoliator -- for that I use Serious Skin Care's Glycolic cleanser and their Serious C3 Plasma 3-in-in exfoliator cleanser (that I order from HSN ) that I keep in the shower.....
Thanks for the info! |

| Along with muy Neutrogena products I stated earlier, I also Take a collagen supplement daily. if I have a blemish the only thing that works for me is sulfur. All the benzoyl peroxide or acid products won't do a thing. I really like the Peter Thomas Roth sulfur mask. |
