Congrats! I'll probably never get those because my sped autism students don't seem to ever think about others. We are working on it though!

I don't do bead work or leather but I make custom rodeo gear by painting freehand on hats, sport boots, clothing, etc.
I would love to do more of this but have the same dilemma- full time job, family responsibilities, horses, working out, etc.
And not killing anyone by going postal is a big accomplishment, too. |

It's a scratch recipie that I developed over time based on a bowl I had at a very fine restaraunt way long time ago in Denver:
Steam fresh broccoli cut in small pieces and red skinned potatoes cut in small pieces.
In a big dutch oven melt a stick of butter, turn off heat, squash some fresh garlic and let sit in the butter for a bit (30-60 minutes). Remove the garlic, pressing the butter back into the pot. Add about a teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper to butter along with 3/4 to 1 C flour. Wisk. Wisk in 3-4 C chicken broth. Turn heat back on and wisk constantly until some thickening begins. Add 2-4 C cream, half and half or whole milk. Heat back up until the soup thickens slightly. Taste test for salt at this point. Do not let it full boil. Add the steamed veggies and let the mix simmer on low heat for another while. Goes awesome with fresh Parker House rolls! |

 Am I really the Weirdo?
Location: Kansas | I teach 9-12th grade special education. This is my 3rd year teaching and I've had 9th grade boys each year. Making it through the day, week, semester, and year without actually screaming at them is a talent I'm honing. :) In all honesty, I love my job, though there are certainly some frustrating moments.
Before this, I wrote for several newspapers and magazines, and still enjoy cranking out a few freelance pieces each year. In the summers, I usually write football team previews for Kansas Pregame magazine and those are a lot of fun. I must be good at them because even though the owner had to lay me off from a full-time job, he emails me at least 30-40 team previews to write every summer. |
