I need help because I'm not a real adult yet and I don't know about these things LOL I rent a duplex that is old and not the best. ALL of the windows sweat on the inside, horribly. Is there anyway I can help reduce this? I can't afford to run the heat non-stop, but it doesn't seem to make a difference regardless. Would putting some sort of sealant around them help? It's made the bottom of the windows moldy and if I'm sitting by a window I can smell that cold, wet smell.
Any ideas that don't involve the landlord's help would be great, because he's kind of worthless.

Dehumidifier is what I use; and I also have a wood stove that helps with humidity and moisture it a lot. In the winter I plastic cover my windows as well helps keep the cold out and saves money on heating bills.

Maybe placing some damp rid around the windows will help absorb some moisture? I use the tubs in my bathrooms and I'm always amazed at all the water it gathers up on the bottom. And I like that it comes in a pretty lavender scent!

I would get the plastic to seal them up for the winter. Pretty sure the moisture is collecting due to drafts. It comes with double sided tape and is pretty easy to put up, then stretch with a hairdryer. That’ll help pretty significantly on heating bills as well if there are drafts.

You can get super good spray in foam insulation.it will expand.then make sure you call it to seal of you have gaps left.its easy to do and cheap.
This works too but just make sure you get the low expansion foam because the high will expand so much it can either shift the window out of place affecting the use if it's not level or I've seen them be cracked because of the pressure.

too much humidity in the house plus crappy windows is what is making your place like that. You need to deal with the humidity along with sealing the windows. The humidity can be helped by doing a few things, a dehumidifier, using your bathroom and kitchen fan often-probably much longer than you think and once you have the humidity under control clean and dry your windows and trim really well and place the plastic heat shrink covers for the winter. If you have a basement that is part of your unit, maybe ask if the landlord can put a dehumidifier down there too. Moisture makes mold so get the moisture dried up first then seal against drafts.
